TWO MORE TRIALISTS RELEASED
17th July 2002 12:54

Only Kevin Street of the 6 trialists at Field Mill is still with the club.

Trialist's fail to impress
Mansfieldtown.net, 17 July 2002
Field Mill started last week with the hope of signing another 6 promising players, Gary Sampson, Kevin Street, Phil Trainer, Leon Ryan, Michael Moore and Bobby Howe. But following the two recent friendly matches and subsequent training sessions the Stags are left with only one, former Crewe Alexandra midfielder Kevin Street.
The first three to leave were Gary Sampson, Leon Ryan and Bobby Howe who's time at Field Mill came to an end after the disappointing 1-1 draw at Glapwell on Friday evening. Phil Trainer and Michael Moore played one more game against Belper Town but failed to impress stags boss, Stuart Watkiss.
Watkiss has stood firm with his policy of not signing any Tom, Dick or Harry and pointed out earlier today that he is not prepared to sign anybody that is not, "at least as good the existing squad".
Kevin Street has been steady and caught the eye of Watkiss and assistant boss, Neil Richardson on Friday at Glapwell where he played the first 45 minutes and turned on a good performance for the 950 strong crowd.
With 7 more friendly matches and more training to follow leading up to our Division 2 Campaign, Kevin has got plenty of time to make his mark with the gaffer.
