mansfieldtown.net reports that the first of Carlton Palmer's summer signings arrived at Field Mill this afternoon for the Pre-Season check up and medical. The players passed with flying colours as expected and their names will be announced next week when they have put pen to paper.

Palmer is delighted that progress is being made and sympathises with supporters saying:

"I know that it has been a difficult time for the fans who have felt that we are not going to be signing any new players but let me assure everybody that we have been actively seeking players, making contact with managers, players and agents.

After the Rob Clare and Danny Bacon incidents I wanted to play my cards close to my chest and not build expectations up only to be let down at the last minute.

"The two players who came for their medicals today will be signed early next week and when we formally introduce them to the press they should be joined by, at least one other player and hopefully, we should also have some news on 'Pilks' who has already told me that we are close to arriving at a deal.

" I hope that the announcement will offer some re-assurance to the supporters that we are not sitting on our laurels but making every effort to bring the right people to Field Mill"

The new Stags are scheduled to be attending the Mill for a photo call on Wednesday.
