CAMBRIDGE GAME POSTPONED
26th December 2004 22:45

Stags match frozen off
CHAD
HEAVY overnight frost wrecked Stags hopes of taking on struggling Cambridge United at Field Mill on Sunday.
Although the widely-predicted 'White Christmas' failed to materialise, the temperatures plummeted and an 11am pitch inspection declared the surface unplayable and the match off.
Stags were perfectly poised to build on the win at Shrewsbury in front of a bumper Bank Holiday crowd and caretaker-manager Carlton Palmer admitted: "I was gutted.
"We have trained hard all week and were really looking forward to it.
"I really fancied our chances of turning them over. I know we have injuries but I would much rather have played the game than mess up our plans with a fixture pile-up.
"I was quite happy not to have a game on 8th January but now I might try to look to see if we can get a game on that date to stop any pile-ups."

Carlton Palmer told Mansfield 103.2, on his way back from the Chester game, that we could be playing Wycombe at home on the 8th of January. Official confirmation awaited.
