mansfieldtown.net reports that Scott McNiven will be absent from the line up for the foreseeable future after having been recently struck by a body blow that every male fears.

The news that Scott had a tumour in one of his testicles was delivered in the middle of last week during a routine examination and naturally both the player and everybody at Field Mill were devastated at hearing the bad news.

Scott will underwent today to have the tumour removed then will have yet another agonising to find out the results of the consequent biopsy which will be taking place tomorrow.

Keith Curle said: " I was obviously devastated at hearing the news when Scott told me during last week but he insisted that he wanted to play on Saturday against Macclesfield Town and asked if I let the public know after the game.

"I have the utmost respect for Scott as a person but especially as a professional footballer, My thoughts, as are those of everybody at Field Mill are with Scott and his family at this time"
