CURLE SAYS SORRY ON IPOUA
18th October 2004 21:38

mansfieldtown.net reports that Stags Boss Keith Curle would like to apologise to the fans of Mansfield Town for not announcing that the club had signed Cameroon Guy Ipoua.

"I would like to apologise for not making public knowledge that we had signed Guy Ipoua. I would like to stress it wasn't that I wanted to keep the fans in the dark about what was happening at the club it was that I wanted to keep the element of surprise for when we met Notts county on the day. A tactic that I think worked well. We signed Guy on the Thursday afternoon after agreeing terms with the Chairman, Guy and Dave Penny from Doncaster. I explained to Dave that I wanted to keep the element of surprise so asked if he could keep quiet his end as that was the approach we were employing at Mansfield to which he agreed.

"I think it worked and it probably threw a large spanner in the workings of County's game plan. I would just like to say the support was fantastic, large crowds and very vocal and this definitely helped the players get a good home win in a local derby" he told the official website this morning.
