CURLE ON MACCA
13th September 2004 21:48

mansfieldtown.net reports that Keith Curle and the players were pleased with the result on Saturday:

"The word back from a few of the players is that they themselves felt that they would have got beaten in games like that last season. This year I believe was different because the attitude, determination and application in the changing room was strong enough to grind out a draw. It wasn't pretty but I have watched the video again this morning and it highlighted our players did a good job to come back from behind twice. Cambridge made the pitch 'smaller' and there wasn't a lot of room to play football, it really was a toe to toe encounter." He told the official website.

Talking about the goals he felt that Neil MacKenzie caused problems from the midfield with at least two great strikes at goal one of which rattled the crossbar then the far upright before ricocheting back into play:

"I Know Macca's shot didn't go in but I don't know how it stayed out .it was a fantastic strike and that is what Neil MacKenzie is about he has got goals in him which is another part to his game he is a quick learner always with a smile on his face and he seems to be enjoying his football at the moment, I hope that this is been transposed into the supporters as well.

"I believe that Neil had about four good strikes at goal during the game and that if a midfielder is netting one in four then with enough games and chances hopefully he should achieve double figures"
