Hartlepool Youth 1 Stags Youth 0
20 March 2004

Report from Hartlepool supporters, via John Street

Stags Youth team went down 1 - 0 at Howletch College, Peterlee on Saturday morning.
On a terrible blustery wet morning the Stags deserved to come away with all three points as they put in a spirited effort against the Pool.

Stags went behind early on when they let in a sloppy goal following a
free-kick, but then went on to control the game without having a killer finish in there attack on the day.

Hartlepools record in this Merit League to date was 1 win, 2 draws and 1 defeat, but they have not had to be penned back so much in any of the other fixtures, and Pool Youth Team coach Paul Stephenson was considerably worried especially during the second half.

The Stags strikers Heron and Zaccarius didnt get a clear effort though in front of goal and Stags were restricted to on target efforts from outside of the box by Arnold and Lloyd.

Defensively the Stags looked ok going forward but suspect when receiving crosses into the box.

Best Stag No 4 Lloyd - played a good game in the centre of midfield in the terrible conditions

Good other performances from Parks, Arnold, and Goalkeeper(name unknown trialist)

Overall the visitors should be pleased with there performance but not the result they deserved to travel back to the Midlands with at least a point.

Team: Trialist, Jones D, Woods, Trialist, Rennals, Arnold, Parks, Lloyd, Sleath, Heron, Zaccarius
Subs Used: Curle, Holmes, Trialist
