Watkiss makes move for Murray
Teamtalk, 23 April 2002
Stuart Watkiss has made an immediate move to sign England Under-20 midfielder Adam Murray on a permanent basis but cannot contact Derby County.
The Stags boss has been trying to get in touch with The Rams as he has no idea if they will allow the youngster to leave Pride Park, but his phone calls to the club and the players agent have not been answered.
Murray grabbed seven goals in his 13 games on loan to help steer Stags to promotion and Watkiss is not giving up on a player he rates very highly.
He said: "Adam did very well for us but, as of last weekend, he is back to being a Derby player.
"I tried to call both Derby and his agent yesterday without any luck and will be trying again today.
"First of all I need to find out if he is included in Derby's future plans now they have been relegated, what fee we would be looking at if any, and if we can afford him.
"Then, after all that, we would need to talk to Adam and his agent and see if he wanted to come here - which he has indicated he does - and what his personal terms would be.
"But, at the end of the day, Adam would clearly be a big asset to this club if we could keep him and I will be doing all I can."

Sisson goes under knife - again
Teamtalk, 23 April 2002
Michael Sisson underwent another major operation on his injured cruciate knee ligament last night but will hopefully return early next season.
The young midfielder has not played in the first team since August 2000 and, despite recent appearances on the bench, he then suffered this latest setback when it was found he needed to have tendon grafted from his good knee on to the bad one.
"Michael has had a very rough time of it recently and it must have been especially hard for him when the place has been buzzing like it has," said Stuart Watkiss.
"We've been promoted and feel on top of the world but we can't forget Michael and he carries all our best wishes.
"There won't be much of a summer break for him as he has a lot of hard work ahead of him. Let's just hope we see him back in a Mansfield shirt again as soon as possible."
