Nigel Clough told Craig Priest for Mansfield 103.2 after the game at Crawley:
"The players are going out for a beer tonight which they thoroughly deserve. We've got a clear week now. It was a great incentive for them when you're going out after a game to get the three points!"

A group of Mansfield Town players have sent the internet wild after dressing up as The Inbetweeners.

Stags' stars Keaton Ward, Rhys Oates, Nathan Bishop and George Lapslie donned the infamous look that was made famous on the hit TV show after their League Two clash with Crawley Town at the weekend.

Mansfield beat the Red Devils 2-1 at the weekend with Oates netting a late winner down in Sussex.

And that appears to have sparked some wild celebrations amongst the players as a host of Stags' stars dressed up.

As well as Ward, Oates, Bishop and Lapslie's Inbetweeners effort, Tyrese Sinclair and Kellan Gordon also dressed up for a team night out.

Fans were left in hysterics at the lengths the players had gone through to look the part for what appeared to be an early Christmas do.

One fan tweeted: "This is class mate" in response to Ward's Inbetweeners post.

Another responded with: "This has made my day" followed by a string of laughing emojis.

After a shocking start to the season, Mansfield have slowly moved away from the League Two drop zone in recent weeks under former Derby County and Burton Albion boss Nigel Clough.

What do you make of Mansfield's fancy dress antics? Let us know in the comments section below.

Clough, the son of legendary Nottingham Forest manager Brian, has overseen a run of four wins from the last five league games to leave relegation fears behind.

The Stags are currently seven points off the League Two play-offs; an amount that could be easily made up if they can continue their good form over the festive period, with a feast of fixtures set to come thick and fast over the next month.

Prior to their current purple patch, Mansfield had gone on an agonising 14-game winless run.

It would have been interesting to see just how differently the Stags' fantastic fancy dress efforts would have gone down the fans had that run of form not been halted.

But Clough was delighted after they bounced back in style from a 2-0 reverse to newly-promoted Sutton United in midweek - and the players seemingly got their rewards with a festive trip to Winter Wonderland.
