Report from Sports.com

Scunthorpe's hero for the second week in succession was Cameroon striker Guy Ipoua as he bagged four goals in a 6-0 hammering of Mansfield.  Last week he grabbed three in the cup, but he went one better on this occasion to take his tally to 13 in the last seven games, but the Stags never managed a shot on target.  Conditions were not easy after a pre-match storm of epic proportions left water standing on the pitch.

Scunthorpe were ahead after only 90 seconds when Bjarnolfur Larusson collected a ball that had been blocked away by the visitors defence and he cracked in a left-foot shot from 25 yards, that zipped past Bobby Mimms into his right hand corner. Mansfield fell further behind in the sixth minute when Lee Hodges whipped the ball in from the left and skipper Stephen Torpey flicked the ball home.  Mimms then produced a fine save to deny Ipoua who stretched the visitors defence before delivering a good shot.  Mansfield's only effort of the half came after 12 minutes and saw Wayne Corden driving a shot wide of the target from the edge of the box.  However the Iron remained totally in control and Ipoua was on the mark in the 27th minute. Russ Wilcox knocked the ball forward, it was flicked on by Torpey for Ipoua who drew Mimms off his line before tapping the ball home.  Mansfield's problems were compounded in the 36th minute when Lee Williams - after several skirmishes and an earlier yellow card - was shown a second and the obvious red by referee Mark Ryan of Preston.  Scunthorpe continued their dominance after the break and after Larusson had a rocket-drive blocked by the Stags defence. Gareth Sheldon drove the ball across and Ipoua met it with his head as it squeezed under Mimms' body in the 56th minute.  Mimms then beat away another Ipoua effort, before the Cameroon striker was brought down by Andrews. He got up to strike his right-foot shot to Mimms' right and complete his triple from the spot.  Lee Hodges then forced Mimms into two excellent saves and Larusson's effort to get on the scoresheet for a second time was blocked.  With two minutes left Ipoua's goalscoring prowess was further demonstrated as he headed home from close range following Torpey's cross.

Mansfield's only other effort on goal came from Mark Blake, but again he was off target and after the match the Stags boss Bill Dearden said: " I'm very disappointed we were guilty of some sloppy defending and there will be changes for Tuesday's FA Cup replay against Peterborough."
