Mansfield Town were frustrated to be held 2-2 at AFC Telford this afternoon. The Stags took an early lead through a Lee Beevers fluke when his cross flew straight in, but Telford were level two minutes later with a fortunate goal of their own as Tafazolli could only deflect a cross into his own net. Telford were in front on 34 minutes as a shot from Richard Davies crept in off the post, but Mansfield were level within 5 minutes when Speight was brought down from behind in the penalty area by defender Liam Chilvers who was the last man and consequently sent off. So the Stags played the last 50 minutes against ten men, but were unable to break them down. Sub Howell went close twice with shots from inside the box, Clements had four efforts from outside the box, Murray had a shot blocked from close range, and Meikle had a shot deflected into the side netting with the keeper wrong footed, but in truth the keeper had no difficult saves to make, and indeed it was Marriott who had to pull off an outstanding double save to keep the Stags on level terms.

The Stags were unchanged from the side that beat Braintree, thus continuing the 3-4-1-2 formation with Beevers and Daniel on either side of midfield, and Stevenson behind Speight and Rhead. The bench was also unchanged.

Man of the Match: Alan Marriott

Report by: Martin Shaw at The Bucks Head

Line Up:
Marriott 8 No chance with the goals, but made outstanding double save at 2-2. Made some other routine saves and showed good handling.
Sutton 6.5 Solid in defence.
Geohaghon 7 Dominant.
Tafazolli 6.5 A little unlucky with the own goal. Otherwise defended well.
Beevers 5.5 Got lucky with his cross that went straight in, though Speight may have knocked it in anyway had it been going wide. Otherwise his crossing was poor.
Murray 6 Did ok, worked hard.
Clements 6 Tried his luck from long range on four occasions. Did some decent things. Ok.
Daniel 6 One or two decent crosses.
Stevenson 6 Very quiet game. But excellent quick thinking to put Beevers in space for the first goal.
Speight 7 Sharp. Earned the penalty and red card for the defender. Had a couple of other chances.
Rhead 6.5 Some good play on the floor.
Sub Line Up:
Howell (for Stevenson, 56) 6.5 Went up front in place of Rhead. A couple of good efforts but couldn’t get them on target.
Meikle (for Rhead, 56) 6 Some trickery but not at his best. Unlucky when his deflected shot went into the side netting.
Briscoe (for Sutton, 67) 7 Caused the home defence some problems, including a super cross for Murray.
Subs not used: Thompson, Jones.
Opposition Line Up:
Young, Salmon, Rose, Chilvers, Davies, Jones (Rooney 74), Trainer, Spray (Brown 42), Leslie, Taylor, St Aimie (Byfield 90+2). Subs not used: Roberts, Collister.
Brett Huxtable (North Devon) 7 Upset the home fans but had a fine game in my opinion.
