This was my first time at the Racecourse and I was very impressed with the size of the ground. Not so good was the snack shop, it did not open until 2.00 and the pastries/ sausage rolls were cold! The first half was open football with both teams playing good football with very few chances created. As half time approached, White was booked for a bad foul outside the box (in my opinion it should have been a red card). From the resulting free kick Wrexham hit the bar. Half time 0-0 In the second half, Brown got down the wing and sent in a good cross but the goalie collected it with Gritton ready to pounce. Hamshaw then crossed an excellent ball from the right to Gritton in the six yard box but somehow Gritton headed it wide. After that not much else. I think both teams were happy with a point apiece. White - 7 Did his job but should have been sent off.
Mullins - 5 Could do better, kept getting caught out. Hjelde 4 - Just a slow defender, did nothing. Baptiste 8 - Did what he gets paid to do, defend. My man of the match. Jelleyman - 7 Did better when moved to centre half. Hamshaw - 6 A couple of good crosses, not much else. Hodge - 6 Some good passes but can be excused as just back from Canada. Dawson 6 - Good first half, then subbed. M.Boulding - 6 A few good runs forward not as good going back. Brown 6 - Ran his socks off but gets caught offside too much. Gritton - 6 Did not get the service he thrives on but did miss a sitter. |
