15TH NOVEMBER 2008
Inter Blades (Sheffield United) v FTYBR FC (Mansfield Town)
IFA League Fixture
FC return to action this coming Saturday with a visit to 10th placed,
Inter Blades, supporters of Championship side, Sheffield United.
Stags are at home to Salisbury but seeing as they do not have a supporters side, a trip to Sheffield was arranged. United are at home to Reading who don't have a supporters side either.
This season the Inter Blades have played 7 games, winning 4 and losing 3. They have scored 35 goals and conceded 25. After a good start to the season, the Blades have lost their last two games, 6-0 at home to Worldnet 2008 winners, Preston North End and 7-5 at home to Nottingham Forest.
FTYBR FC enter the game in a good run of form having not lost in their previous 6 IFA games. Three of which came at the end of last season, and of course three successive wins this term, including a surprise but well deserved first ever victory over local rivals, Nottingham Forest.
Last season the trip to the 'Steel City' resulted in a fine 2-0 win for Mansfield with striker, Jamie Wheatman scoring both goals. The previous season had resulted in a controversial 3-2 defeat with Gary Bird being sent off in added on time for complaining above what he and others felt were dubious refereeing decisions.
There is no doubt that it will be a tough game for FTYBR. Inter Blades have a good squad of players and are well run, as Manager, Steve Hartshorn explains,
"Danny Brown runs their side and runs it well. Last season was one of those days when everything went right for us, but it could have been different if they had put their early chances away. As it was Wheatman was on fire and it turned out to be a great performance. Trouble is you can't take anything for granted in this IFA league. There are two or three teams that seem to win each and every week but most are capable of either beating or losing against each other."
The team will set off at 9am on Saturday from the Sir John Cockle carpark.
