You don't go to away games anymore because of the crush risk ? Blimey

There is more chance of me going down a chimney and a squirrel running up my trouser leg and biting off my remaining testicle than being crushed in division 2

Although I do agree that locking any exit doors/gates is a scandal

Hilarious innit mate. Crush risk. Bwahahaha

You usually have to walk 200 yards for a light. ;)

A longish and time consuming (all relative I know) walk from the IGL to get out of the ground!

Also thought that in the event of a real emergency many fans (inc children lets not forget) would have panicked and be trapped in a tunnel with potentially catastrophic consequences..

As an aside I have always thought that our games away v Clownty over many years were scary - long tunnels and heavy congestion troubled me.

Would be interesting to hear what happened and why it did. Hope, as they say, lessons will be learnt.

So we have stewards positioned at the doors so they should have been opened.
,somebody must have gave them the order to keep them shut .Who :?: :?:

We have no problem in IGU Q BLOCK . straight down and out.

Just as a quick update, I have had an email reply from the Deputy Safety Officer Nigel Flint and also an extensive and Frank chat on the phone.
In the absence this week of Alan Lakin, he has started an investigation along with Paul Broughton and has spent much of Monday and Tuesday reviewing CCTV and contacting various staff.
The fire door was checked prior to the match and was actually in use at half time for the smoking area.
Due to it being an ongoing investigation I have agreed not to discuss most of our conversation but I can say that they have already decided some actions brought about directly, and indirectly, by this incident. These will include some additional procedures and they have planned an extended staff briefing prior to the Accrington Stanley match.
At the end of the day, although this should not have happened- and has been acknowledged by Nigel and
Paul B, this will lead to improvements being made which seems to be the way the club as a whole is going.

The solution is obvious. Ban smoking, ban smokers, ex smokers who might be tempted to start again, and e- cig users.

Anyone found in possession of any tobacco related products , lighters etc banned from attending/ season ticket destroyed.

People wanting to go outside and then needing to go back in problem solved int it?

What have they got to hide:

Definitely needs reporting to the SAG for the safety of all fans. Ask yourself why they don't want this discussed by fans whilst they are investigating or a listing of the actions already decided. What are they trying to cover up.

Personally I don’t think there is a cover up, but there is still some ongoing investigation and if any disciplinary action is taken then anything said on here and elsewhere might jeopardise that.
At the moment any proposed actions are not confirmed due to the safety officer not being at work until Monday. As there is no match before then there is not a need to finalise them. As far as I know any written procedures regarding ground and public safety will automatically be available to the SAG, likewise any breaches are also reviewed.
Believe me, I would be the first to take things further if I thought there was a cover up. Did anyone else bother to report this to a club official or did they just have a moan about it to a part time steward or their friends? It is out in the public domain, at least on here. I got a good, prompt response from Nigel Flint, who I do not know, and he is a football fan as well as a club official and seems very passionate about making sure all fans have a good match day experience as well as a safe one. I am sure you, or any other supporter, would get a similar response.

Are you wired up? The club have acknowledged the issue and are clearly taking it seriously. It's a fair request not to have details published for a number of reasons.

I know let's go running to the SAG to make sure our club gets punished shall we. If they had ignored the issue or reports of it then yeah in the interests of safety the SAG should know. But this sounds like a one off or a training issue which they will now no doubt resolve.

Taking this thread as a whole I think this is most encouraging.
We started with a legitimate comsern about a definate issue which in the past would have been ignored or swept under to carpet. In this instance has been looked at, considered and hopefully dealt with.

I am normally prepared to expect the 'we will just ignore or treat with contempt any valid raising of a legitamate issues' response to issues like this so its great that this was seen, addressed and solved
Surely this is a sign of a progressive club being run in the proper manner

It’s a safety issue not a drug taking issue!

This one is aimed at all those that went to ‘Limo’s’ in the very early 90’s.

The gate between North Stand & IGS will be closer for 20 minutes after EVERY home game this season!

So it's as though the home fans are being held back for 20 mins unless they're prepared to walk the best part of 3/4 mile rather than keeping the away fans back for 20 in the NS. Only at Mansfield eh!
