yes, I'm back on the video highlights, after Dan did them in pre-season. Goals from multiple angles at midday tomorrow.

Loving the MacDonald anology, with him being good at “ratting”.
How many good ratters have we had over the years?

I thought Sir Mal was magnificent yesterday. Absolutely everywhere and a constant menace for Newport.
Benning at his best.

Benning was good, driving forward and carry the play up the field. Most good things went through him, he was always the outlet too

Apart from when he gave the ball away twice in the space of 30 seconds on the halfway line.

And to think there were quite a few on here last Oct/Nov who saw Hunt as a better player cos Sir Mal's form had dipped slightly, and wanted him gone.
As the saying goes
'Form is temporary,
Class is permanent'
He'll have a bad game once in a while, but at Lge2 level you'll not find much better.
Had to edit, sorry, forgot about Sir Mal's knighthood for that killer blow at the dip

Sir Mal will be one of those that we'd reminisce about if/when he moves on to a higher level.
This could possibly be a defining season for him. I'm hoping it's one of evolution that goes hand in hand with him and the team both progressing.

I marked Mal down because he gave the ball away a few times and let Padraig Amond get in behind him three times. On another day Amond could have punished us. Amond was offside the third time but you could see Krystian Pearce having words with Mal. This is probably a consequence of playing the 3-5-2 system as other teams will probably try and catch out our wing backs when they are higher up the pitch than they should be and take advantage of the space behind them.

All preseason there were gaps behind the wingbacks, it's just a consequence of playing 3 5 2 and why the back 3 need to have pace.
Imagune Murfin ans Diamond playing in a back 3!!

Our fans are probably amongst the worlds fickleist when it comes to wanting players gone after 1 bad game.
I remember fans saying they would accept £50k for Matt Green in his second season with us as he was a 1 season wonder.

Maybe me but I thought we were hanging on a bit for the first 15 minutes without them really creating anything, it seemed they were swinging it in from left and right, and when they weren't doing that they had lots of space around 25 yards out. I remember saying just before they had that point blank header saved by Logan that we'll need more than one here. We needed the goal. 2nd half was much better though.

I thought that too Mark.
I think the Nathan Thomas's of this world and any other decent wide men will punish us if we give them the space out wide we afforded them yesterday.

Agreed, I’m concerned when we play a dangerous team.
Plus side is how threatening we look around the box though.

As the season goes on the 3-5-2 will have to change during games to a 5-3-2 when we need to stay in games but that will be down to the players to recognise. The formation will get better the more we play it.

I am just worried if we go behind in a game and how we react.
