Got to agree with him about Mansfield Magic, it's very dated and slightly embarrassing. So is 'On the Ball'.

We do like and sing the Elvis song and Something Good though, they both get the crowd going before the game and work well. You should try something for your club, maybe you'll get a draw against us.

To be fair lyrics about Ian Greaves in Mansfield Magic aren't exactly relevant to a modern audience, and the song hasn't aged well

Something Good I have no problem with, seems to be the football song of the moment. We sing that with lyrics about Nolan

Perhaps it's time Alex for you guys to sing a new song. Perhaps The NOLAN sisters "Gotta pull myself together " would be a good fit.

Imagine that, a song written specifically for an occasion in 1987 not being able to predict what would be relevant in 2017.

We should have a regular old football song review called 'AlexNottsFan (he supports Notts by the way) says:

World Cup Willie 1966 - 'What's 1966 got to do with football'

Back Home 1970 - 'This has no relevance to my home'

World in Motion 1990 - 'New Order, more like Old Order'

3 Lions 1996 - 'What's 3 lions got to do with football, its hardly relevant for the internet generation'

Mansfield Magic is a little homage to a good era for Mansfield Town; until the club creates better history it'll be relevant.

Perhaps Alex just needs a cuddle and a whisper in his shell-like that it'll be alright?

What a pathetic post.

All these songs are meant to be cheesy, it's the way they are. They're a bit crap but it's how it's supposed to be.

I think when your club sings a song about a wheelbarrow over and over again your not in a position to call any other clubs anthem.

He's just bitter because they are Nottinghamshire's 8th side.

1. Forest
2. Mansfield Town
3. AFC Mansfield
4. Basford United
5. Hucknall Town
6. Rainworth Miners Welfare
7. Carlton Town
8. Notts County

AlexNottsFan wrote:First of all I should admit to supporting Notts, but I'm not here to discuss yesterday's game. No, I wanted to ask about Mansfield Magic and Stags Fans feat Elvis Amber and Blue, comfortably the two worst club anthems I have ever heard from any football club. Do you like either of those songs? I would guess no, otherwise you would sing them when they are played and during the game when we sing our Wheelbarrow Song

Maybe County Fans should have changed the lyrics 20 odd years ago with their decent into lower league nothingness with the rest of us!

You can't change history

"Mansfield Magic" is still relevant and part of the club's history, yes the song is dated but I remember 1987 very well.

I like the Elvis one to be honest. Always funny listening to those singing trying to hit the high note at the end

Unrelated question but when and why did the away end change from the Quarry Lane end to the North Stand?

Doncaster Rovers full time let’s just say a little incident involving police dogs back of the QLE, then SAG police etc came up with this great new plan, swop ends, oh and the now world famous Gabbi Gate being locked which incidently also solved world peace being put in place, plod & SAG never gonna give us it back now way to easy to bus away fans in and out from the retail park.
there you go mi owd

Yeah, absolute carnage on Quarry Lane after Donny Rovers stole a last minute winner. And it was Stags fans who were the agitators and not Donny.

To be fair there's been times over the years when you wouldn't have wanted to be an away supporter spilling on to Quarry Lane after a match. There's been plenty of unpleasantness over the years; nobody can argue that.

It's a fair point, but banging on about something that happened in 1862 when you were lingering around 20th is hardly modern or relevant to today's game either ;)

What's your song about Nolan go like, bud?
