So we finish the month on a fantastic high obtaining 14 bags of coal, only 1 point off the 15 point target I set at the start of the month. Now onto October.

Colchester - Away (Win)
Swindon - Home (Win)
Barnet - Away (Loss)
Newport - Away (Win)
Exeter - Home (Draw)

10 bags of coal predicted for the new month.

Any thoughts / expectations for October?

An overall tally of 28pts for the first 16 games (giving over 80 for the season) would be good, so another 9pts for them five games would be fine,

two home wins and three away draws.
We might win against Accrington next time.

Somethings got to give somewhere if you project our current tally forward we’d have a decent points haul and down in eight, it says to me that if we carry on at this rate some of the other will fall off

Agree with cassells, no we wouldn't.

Luton game would have given an extra 2 pts if we'd scored.

Carlise might not have changed the result (Draw) because the missed penalty was before the butcher goal so anything after that penalty is irrelevant had it gone in. Butcher may not have even come on to score.

Extra 2pts and 1 better goal difference would move us up one place.

Looking back at L2 the last few years we would of been a bit higher at this point. Last year we'd of been 3rd...

Interestingly we made almost the exact same start in 2013. 19pts from 11. 5w 4d 2l. 4gd v 5 now.

The standard towards the bottom hasn't helped. The picture will be a lot clearer end of next month.

I was thinking the same. The bottom 3 should be on around 8 or 9 points. Positions matter but at this stage it is all about points as the table is less stable. Lets hope Stoptober does not kick in this year as per the last few seasons.

Handy tool to compare the table this time last year, clearly no science to it but provides a reference point.

https://www.11v11.com/league-tables/league-two/01-october-2016/

Took 14 games to hit the 19 point target last year, and took until game week 17 to move off 19 points.

Our record away at Colchester isn't the best actually...

https://www.11v11.com/teams/mansfield-t ... %20United/

So I'd take a draw there straight away.
Barnet and Newport have been surprisingly doing well too, they're going to be difficult away games.
With Swindon and Exeter both being fancied teams this season, motivation shouldn't be a problem so I think I'd agree with this as a target....although with some tough games in there, I can't see us going the month unbeaten.

I think these are tough matches, and although I love the optimism of being undefeated through October, I would go...

Colchester away Loss
Swindon home Draw
Barnet away Win
Newport away Draw
Exeter home Loss

Only 5 points.
Stagsnet meltdown.
Logan and Hemmings become public enemies No 1 & 2.
People screaming for Evans to be sacked.
John Sheridan spotted in Sainsbury's.
Further Stagsnet meltdown.

I might skip Stagsnet in October.....
