It's not the general plod I'm critical of. It's their bosses who have no flipping' idea of rationality.

Im not the real OND wrote:Just been down to pick a ticket up and it looked as though the police were preparing for G20 style encounters. There were about 6 riot vans and several cars.

That said, there were quite a few chaps in front of me buying up tickets for our end who were obviously from Sheffield...

It was over the top policing for a PSF & must be costing our club thousands!!
There were quite a few Sheffield Wednesday fans sat near me in IGL , no bother at all ,
that should've been in the North Stand if it wasn't for SAG

So, for the third time, what's the logic in restricting the numbers of away supporters ?

There appears to be two issues why the full 1800? tickets are not sold.

Firstly the first two rows of seats are covered in netting. I can only think they are trying to keep fans farther away from the pitch.

Secondly, the issue of fans not sitting in their correct allocated seat. When this happens a P factor of 0.9 is used for unreserved seating.

I can only assume that if they sold 100% of seats then folk would be standing in the aisle and not finding a seat next to their mates.

Quite amusing that some Wendy fans were locked the west stand side of the gate having been in the west stand during the game. So locking the gates to stop the fans mixing didn't really work (again) did it!?

I preferred the p factor of 1.3 in the good old days when we played Cheltenham in 2002

I would imagine if you sat in the first two rows then you have to stand up to see over the metal barriers.

I would also imagine that stewards don't want to cause agro in getting fans to sit in their numbered seats.

The 1pm ko and the closing of the gate came up at the meeting last night. For police recommendations read police insistence. Apparently we have a higher proportion of hooligans than other clubs

It's reasons like this why I'm pleased the police haven't had a pay raise for years, they don't deserve one, thick jobsworths that cause more trouble in Nottinghamshire than they solve.

The problem is simple, If you've such an issue with safety then simply hold back the away fans for 5 or 10 minutes, it's so simple. How do such a stupid police force not understand this simple act could solve this? But no, let's let the fans all spill out onto Nottingham road with moving traffic instead. They go looking for trouble to justify their roles, usually as they've 2 GCSEs and nothing else to go for

They're a joke.

Mse sit in west stand. Turn up late or very close to kick off sometimes leave early.
It's not rocket science to shut the gate.
They have to walk quarry lane way in quarry lane way out.
Containment is the word.
west stand only has one way to leave when gate closed.
That's why we will never have the North stand back.

Did anyone ever see the "hardhome" episode of Game of Thrones? They closed the gate and just LOOK at what happened there

What's containing in dispersing fans onto a very busy main road if they want a scrap, it's the complete opposite of containment isn't it?

Until last season season Notts police wasn't clever enough to put police down Nottingham road! I've seen more trouble down there when the gates been shut than there would of been if the gate was open, why can't they hold away fans in the ground for 10 minutes after the game, this means most fans will be half way home or back in Bryon supping it's not hard is it?

That involves common sense/intelligence. Notts Plod have neither of these.

To be fair to Notts Police, Wight-Walkers don't regularly tweet out generic public information tweets about gates being closed.

I remember the away fans being kept back for 10 minutes in the quarry lane stand around 2003/4
Makes more sense to me

The real Spartacus would never have taken such a passive approach when faced with a removed in a position of authority.

so its common sense to shut gate which then force away fans to walk back up portland st and home fans down portland st thus fans all clashing as they meet up.really great planning notts police.this has caused more trouble since the gate has been locked .for example tranmere and chesterfield cple seasons back
