They don't, in a very very long time.

The only people who buy lower league clubs are:

1) Local businessmen with more money than sense, who support the club
2) Mental case ego maniacs
3) Businessmen who have their eye on the land more than they do the club

Unless the land that the ground is on can be utilised for extra curricular activities, and also has development opportunities around it - and becomes the sole property of the new owner, then they're in a lot of trouble. To put them in the context of our history, they're currently approximately around the time that Haslam decided to sell, without having had to go through a lot of the mess - so probably still have a lot of sheep dips to wade through before seeing the green grass of the meadow again.

To be fair, they've earned that position for the effort put in over at Tescoside this season.

Mustn't laugh, no really we mustn't.

Someone's gonna come on here and say we should I suppose.

Should we or shouldn't we?

Hilarious. I truly hope that they feel the pain that we felt.

Things are pretty sweet at the moment. They are only going in one direction and we are only going in the other. Promotion through the playoffs for us would only make them hurt even more.

Asset stripping, a firesale, callit what you will that £500k will see them through the summer though unfortunately. I dont suppose any of it will go toward any new players, it'll just relieve the day to day cost of running the club.

Turns out Ched was a very shrewd signing for them despite not really scoring many goals, he spun them a few quid.

The fee won't be anywhere near to £500k he's been pretty poor or injured for much of the season & Sheff U know the cheats are desperate for cash.

Time will tell if it's the beginning of the sell off to pay the club debt. It will be interesting to see what their squad looks like.
£500k feels high but how much is cash now and how much is add ins which may never come through?

The funny thing is that whatever the fee is, the cash will never get anywhere near the club.

They will be in big trouble next season. No money for new signings, just a threadbare squad of kids. Can't wait to watch them tumble down to the bottom of league 2.

I'll say one thing about them, they can get a fee for a player. Blades must have a screw loose, Evans has been a massive flop at Tescoside. He sounds shot as a player, though 5live has definitely reported the half million figure.

I'd wager that they've made more from player sales than any other lower league club, by a mile. Hilarious thing being that they've not benefited in any way whatever.

Amazing if they get anything like £500K for him, out of the game for around 4 years and only a handful of goals for the Sheep worriers this season and question marks over his fitness. Maybe Sheff Utd feel it is the right thing to do after how he was treated?

A good bit of business for Dave Allen and Ashley Carson. The club won't see a penny of it.
If we'd have gambled on Evans at the start of the season we may have got the goals we needed to be comfortably sat in the play offs now. It's that tight, goal difference could be key.
