The miracle of Field Mill

Postby yellafella » Sun Aug 19, 2018 10:47 am

Martin Shaw, Any chance of including some footage of the miraculous recovery of the Colchester player after the life threatening injury he received in front of the west stand late on, Never seen anything like it, worst bit of play acting ever, you could hear him squealing from the back of the stand. I think the video would go viral if it found its way onto FB.

Didn't Krystian Pearce do exactly the same thing?

it looked liked he tweaked something, or a Colchester player got a slight touch on him. When do you see Pearce feigning injury?

When he did yesterday, then got up and played on, after shrieking from a slight touch.

I assume the OP is talking about the incident when MacDonald did some sort of two footed scissor kick on Pell, which he was very lucky to get away with.

Pearce got his heal stepped on, painful but not something to run off.

It looked to me like Macca was fouled which then knocked him off his feet into Pell. We got the free kick so the referee saw it that way too. Pell got booked either for something he said or for his miraculous recovery/deception.

This embarrassing play acting is an aspect of the modern game that will eventually drive me away from watching football. I can no longer watch Premier Division games for that reason alone. We used to laugh at foreign players rolling around in international matches thirty years ago. Unfortunately those antics have now become a part of domestic football too.

Doh. Could be because MOST players in the Premiership ARE foreign!

I agree with Chris M. It really is obscene.

They always make noises about sorting it out but it just gets worse.

Tbh after watching a lot of rugby league I just laugh at them now.

The ever greater sanitisation and pussification of this game never fails.

Football players spend 90 mins pretending they are injured.
Rugby players spend 80 mins pretending they are not.

My daughter plays under 13s rugby for Mansfield. They play full contact and smash in to one another all game.
She sits and watches grown adults play professional football and frequently raises her eyebrows in disgust.

This is a 6 stone, 13 year old girl.

Good on her I say, it's great she's doing something, engendering team spirit and athletisism. Has to be more fun than sat in some sh1tty bus shelter staring at a phone screen.

Imagine some of these players today playing under the likes of Cloughie at Forest, They wouldnt know what had hit them when they got back to the changing room.

a bigger miracle was Sweeney getting man of the match. (in martins report)
every header went straight to the opposition, every kick sliced wildly to the left, then went to the opposition.
reminded me of Frazer Macwhatsisname!
my one regret is...i have no regrets!

Cheers Spiro, she loves the eggchasing more than the right shaped ball. I watch from the sidelines pretending to know what's happening.

Although she's as skilled at bus shelter phone gazing as any other kid her age.

I thought he had a good game. Also voted man of the match by Stags fans (via the club twitter feed/facebook). So not just me.
