It's not 'his' tactic though, it's every single managers tactic. See Evans tenure, Murray's tenure etc.

Imagine if we were attacking while 1-0 up and ended up conceding.Stagsnet would be full of 'why were we attacking when we should've been defending our lead'

Jeeeezus flipping Christ. Defending a lead is great when you have the players to do it. We don't. How is that so bloody hard to grasp?

Imagine if we had continued to keep Col U, Port Vale et al, penned in their own defensive third and got the killer second goal?

Those teams when they tried to push up leaving gaps at the back to be exploited. Good teams that see games out are also very adept at lightning quick counter attacks. We get way too deep for that.

How do you know we don't have the players to do it? We had four new players on the pitch compared to last season. We also would've done if Conrad had caught a simple throw.

Yes he should have caught it and yes it was a bad mistake but it was far from easy.

guess what - its not ok. Thats why we don't succeed

Winning mentality needed.

Conrad - buck your ideas up laddie or ship out mate

Waggy they are human beings, not robots of course they will make mistakes.

I've been supporting the Stags for many years and NEVER come across a team that hasn't made mistakes Of course our more successful teams have made less mistakes, than the ones that struggled. But even the team that got us to the highest division we ever played in got stuffed by Matlock.

Life is full of individuals making mistakes. We all do it.

I think your expectations are unrealistic.

Having a winning mentality doesn't mean you won't make a mistake.

I think the subject has been done to death now Grendon. In my opinion, it was straight forward. If you think otherwise, that's fine.

It's bound to happen eventually, I don't want it too but as soon as BO makes a mistake everyone will be clamouring for a brand new keeper

Exactly, but the season has only just started, so how can consistency be judged after the three games CL has played?

What I will say is Bobby has earned the right to keep the shirt for the next game.

For me this is not about Conrad. It’s about competition - Conrad made a mistake and unfortunately for him we have another keeper who would get into most league two teams. Bobby deserves his chance and good luck to him

That’s not true, agree it’s about competition though.

Balls in Bobby court to keep Logan out now.

And the 40odd he played last season. If saturday's howler had been unprecedented, then it would have been met with a stoical shrug by most of people.
For the people who find CLs keeping style 'erratic' it was the straw that broke the camel's back.

If Bobby keeps him out the team, then it's a win for Stags as it'll mean he's doing well.

Now it's up to Conrad to fight for his place.

I find that hard to fathom.

Most fans thought CL had a good season. In fact some where saying he was the best keeper we've had since Marriott.

He did make a blunder, but the abuse he's had on here from some is unfair.

Colchester are a good team, last night's result is testimony to that.

Just imagine the reaction on here from some if CL or BO, for that matter, had let in six goals.

That's an idiotic comparison Andy. If we let 6 in the team as a whole would be getting (quite rightly) slaughtered. In fact when a team gets an absolute drubbing the keeper is usually afforded a level of sympathy from the fans.

As for him being the best since Marriott, that's damned by faint praise IMO, none of our keepers since we returned to the league have been particularly inspirational.

'What if' is about a weak an argument as you can get. 'What if' counts for nothing in sport.

BO will almost certainly drop a goolie at some point in goal, and we'll all have a grumble about it. If he doesn't repeat the same mistake a week later it will be forgotten.

I expect 4th division keepers to let in the odd soft goal and I expect them to make the odd worldie way beyond their normal playing level. In between, I personally, (and I appreciate we all see tha game differently),I expect a keeper at any level to be solid in his decision making, able to collect a cross in his 6 yard box with no dramas and to be sharp of his line when needed.
