Amber Antlers - A Return to the Conference Years!...

Postby Random Hero » Fri Aug 10, 2018 2:33 pm

(...but in a good way!)

So, I've finally gotten round to writing another one of these! It's only taken 6 months... I'll try to write a few more of these this season, it's just finding the time! I can feel a juicy rant coming on about Gabbitas Gate, mind...

Check out the latest blog, including QLE membership induced Conference nostalgia and what the new 'singing section' means for the match day experience and the team. Plus, Otis Khan's 'Ninja Warrior' antics!...

Feedback, as always, welcomed. Thanks!

Great piece for a dullard Ben :D . I was amongst the QLE in the Conf years and found the same, that the atmos behind the goal was great at times. Never forget that night Rheady jumped into the stand and snapped it in two, it was truly mental and great to be part of.
The players'll get a buzz playing towards a packed home end, they can 'feel it' better, interact with it, they can draw some encouragement from it moreso than when it's tucked up in t'gods.

Where Q block is situated much of the noise dissipates and doesn't 'flow' over the playing field like when it comes from an end.
It could make a 1% difference in games that the players get a spark and get a precious point that makes all the difference come May.

Completely agree on the noise from the Q block. From up top it sounds amazing. At pitch level it sounds a bit flat. That is no fault of the lads in there, it's the way the ground was designed! (Or not, as the case is!)

I don't agree. Quarry lane never sounds as good as the west stand in full voice. Just my opinion as someone who sits mostly in block A lower .
He who laughs last clearly didn't get it...

Booooooo.

Was the best ever in the old NS (behind the goal) in the mid 70's... we all went mental.

I'd agree with that when it is the whole West Stand. It can be spine tingling... I think back to Cheltenham and Carlisle at home in 2002!

But it's very rare that the whole stand is up and singing. If you are behind a goal you're closer together, and the one-tier nature of the stand means the sound travels further across the pitch.

Fantastic read.....

I’m also a young 37 year old in the q block......

I don’t think the noise travels very well at all. Q block and qle doesn’t sound as loud when your not sat in it. Hopefully having 2 singing sections encourages more people to join in...

Since the conference years, every time the atmosphere picks up or I see happy fans always brings a tear to my eyes....I can’t be the only one......

It’s all good and positivity is growing...

Up the stags!
