Weekend Games.

Postby Kernow » Fri Jul 13, 2018 8:47 am

Very much of who, what, where ! All three could feature first team players. The Retford pitch is giving cause for concern, rock hard. Boss will decide today but Hednesford is out for me, not the best journey and I went last time. So hope they keep us informed and will go to Retford or Gainsborough, or half at each. Then again Yorkie recommend's the chips at Gainsborough.

There is a chip shop (Papas) at the bottom of Spital Hill on the way to Retford United's ground. Decent portions for Dave (Yorkie).

I can also recommend a pre-match pint in the Brick & Tile on Moorgate where I have drunk a lot of beer this last month watching the World Cup on their big screen.

The Idle Valley Tap on Carolgate is also an excellent Real Ale pub.

Anyone know what parking is like at Retford? Looking on Google it looks a bit of a hike out of centre.

Loads of parking at the ground. You can also park at the side of the road.

It does seem very strange sending the first team to play a Central Midlands side (Step 7) who have been relegated two seasons' in a row. What are the odds of the first team turning up at Gainsborough tomorrow? Can someone follow the coach?

Think Radford has had a say here, given the change of announcement.

They could have played one friendly in Retford at 11.00am and then a second one at Gainsborough at 3.00pm. Stags fans could then have gone to both.

Looking like new signings going to Hednesford, scared of the Retford pitch, maybe. Sticking with Retford though, better drive.

Shoddy how we have treated Gainsborough. Why stretch our resources to 3 games? I don't think MTFC would be very happy if DCFC, SUFC, SWFC did the same.

If this is true then it shows 100% what the first team will look like in the eyes of DF. Note that Bishop is relegated out of his starting plans with the transfer listed mob as i indicated yesterday because he is not good enough anymore legs have gone, he only played 2 1\2 games out of last 12 games for Scunthorpe for a reason being a bench warmer when it really mattered and not kicking a ball. Unbelievable then look at the raspberrying stats they dont hide the truth. Not surprised about Pearce either which is a proper shame because he should have been club captain last year and has stags blood in his veins. Hope Angol shines again because I doubted him but he is improving every game and will feature and force himself into the side eventually. Was surprised how well Atkinson Butcher and Digby did compared to some of DFs first choice at BPA in first half average low tempo game. Like it or lump it i am entitled to an opinion even if you dont agree. We shall see soon either way in about six weeks time when we have had time to see how the land lies? Tick tick
