Carlisle Manager

David Holdsworth is amazingly 4th in the betting at 8/1 for the Carlisle job. Are the board at Brunton Park complete idiots?

It sounds as if they are having to make big cuts to their playing budget.

David Holdsworth is now out to 20/1. I can't understand how he managed to be listed in the betting in the first place.

Would Brunton Park have the right 'texture' for Dave's slick revolving door?

I think I remember DH saying he used to live near Carlisle when he was at Gretna, so has links to the area

The thing about Managers or ex players is that often they can be perceived as the longer they have been gone, the better they were.

Who in Gods name would take a punt on the preening poseur? The night he walked onto the pitch as Lincoln manager, holding his arms aloft like a Messiah, and at the end scurrying for the safety of the dressing room are two images that for different reasons will always stay with me.

I'll always remember the time David Holdsworth and Tyrone Thompson were sat in the QLE as undercover agents, scouting for Lincoln  We played them the following Saturday at home.

Why would anybody ask David Holdsworth for advice on appointing a football manager?

David Holdsworth is now 3/1 2nd favourite for the Carlisle manager's job behind John Sheridan. Roddy Collins is 16/1 and Paul Cox is 33/1. Ritchie Barker is 50/1.

If Holdsworth gets an interview then he will get the job . The man can certainly talk a good job . I can remember him being totally inept but he would probably be able to convince many on here that there were problems at the club and he did fantastically well .

I think it is spurious to compare DH with DF, that’s all, OWS

Spoke to my Carlisle supporting colleague today and he’s really worried about next year. Apparently the budget has been slashed and 4 of the 5 players they’ve offered contracts to have gone elsewhere. The rumour was that they were after Livingstone’s manager and he’s turned them down so he’s not sure where they go from there.
Whoever comes in will have a relatively low budget and be behind with player negotiations so could struggle next year.
