Sad to report that one of Shirebrooks' finest, Ray Wilson, has passed at the age of 83.

From the Huddersfield website...

The Terriers said in a statement they were "devastated" to learn of Wilson's death and added: "He was a regular supporter at home match days alongside his eldest son Russell despite battling Alzheimer's disease."

RIP
Endeavoring to persevere since 1965 (8-1 home win against QPR)

Used to play in the Ray Wilson Cup when I was at Junior School.

RIP genuine legend.

R.I.P Ray Wilson . Achieved what very few players in history ever do and a local lad too. I remember playing at school in the Ray Wilson cup and was in awe that somebody from shirebrook had won the World Cup. He often came to shirebrook when he was well to visit the cemetery and family graves and was always approachable . Such a sad day for his family, for football , for shirebrook. .

A true gentleman who never forgot his roots, I had a good few pints with him over the years when he visited Shirebrook Town FC and always supported the club in every way he could.
Proper legend !!!!

He always sounded a Cockney to me. Well he did in those BET365 ads. He'd aged well to say he was 83. He only looked in his early 60s. RIP Ray

Are you real ‘tater. You know you should be putting emoticons on your posts ;)
We might win against Accrington next time, if we ever play them again.
