Around 300 travelled to Malta, can only see a similar number travelling to Portugal.

In think the cash outlay by t'club is better used in putting towards the wages for a decent striker.

A weeks work in Portugal, with usual down time. Would be more attractive to a than if we decided to use skeggy beach.

Booked my flights yesterday, will be interesting to see what our squad is like by then - got to be quite a bit of activity in the next 7/8 weeks.

Any prospective signing knowing they will go to Portugal for a week would be more attractive than knowing we'd be running round skeegy beach or Sutton res.

But wouldn't that prospective signing (ie top quality striker) be happier if he'd got an extra £500 p/w in his pocket every week than have a week in the sun?

Would've been better investing in a quality striker this season and not going to Malta, we'd probably be playing Lge 1 next season and that'd attract other quality players in itself.

But hey you lads need a week on the booze somewhere hot so you'll be all for it I suppose.

Staying in Vilamoura which is about half an hour away from where Stags will be. It's about a 25/30 euro taxi to the area the team are based, or Albufeira, which I imagine is where a lot of fans will stay as it is the closest main town.

Agree with Spiritator waste of money all the Malta thing and overnight stops where did this get us last season recall Crewe recall Crawley away these players pampered would prefer more down to earth players keen to get promoted and then when successful let them be treated to better things then
Save your hard earned JR
Spend the money on a decent striker

Did we not spend enough on players that people want us to fork out even more?

This training camp promotes togetherness in a squad. Improve the camaraderie of a squad. It's more than just a knees up.

It's easy to say "sign a decent striker" but actually getting one is whole different issue. I guess you could say the same about manager too.

T'sheep did pre season in Portugal. Fat lot of good it did them. Sweating your knackers off in 85 degrees of heat is totally alien to what a team will expect when they begin competitive games back in Blighty. They'd be better off doing some real team bonding, not posing about in Bermudas and RayBans.

You write some also youth, ever thought of using a dictionary?

Core fitness  I remember seeing videos of last season in Malta and them all kicking their legs in the pool with armbands on. To me it just does nothing than waste the best part of £20,000 that could be used elsewhere.

No youth I've better things to spend money on, like a season ticket which benefits the club. Going to Portugal doesn't.

Nah, get a Quarry Lane card. The money you save can get a cheap flight to Portugal, best of both

He probably gets people to read dictionaries then have spelling tests after while he's playing Wii tennis.
