Sherwood Colliery that play out of Debdale Lane Sports Club lost a final day shootout with Eastwood Community FC in the CMFL South (Step 7). They were separated by goal difference at kick off, Eastwood were 1 up after 14 seconds and went on to secure an emphatic 4-1 win in front of almost 700. It was Sherwood's first defeat of the season.

Eastwood Community is the club formed after the demise of Eastwood Town. I expect they will be promoted a few times over the next few years. Let’s hope it’s less crap or bust this time.

I went to Bridlington Town last Wednesday to complete the set of NCEL Premier Grounds and saw AFC Mansfield beat Curtis Woodhouse's Bridlington 4-2 in the League Cup Semi-Final. Jonathan D'Laryea played for AFC Mansfield and Liam Marsden and Craig Mitchell were on the bench. Jason White was suspended which meant he could enjoy his fish and chips before the game. Mark Ward, the Assistant Manager, played in goal.

AFC Mansfield will play Liversedge in the final at Bramall Lane on Monday 21st May. It should be a good game as I saw Liversedge come back from being 1-0 and 2-1 down against Rainworth to win 3-2 in extra time in the Quarter-Final. Liversedge manager, Jonathan Rimmington, makes Steve Evans look like a shy retiring daffodil. He was sent off by the ref in the 2nd half.

AFC Mansfield have now been promoted to the Evostik League East due to Andover Town withdrawing i think. As AFC Mansfield were in the top 3 finishes in England they have been selected.

This is the same league as Carlton Town, Frickley Athletic, Stocksbridge Park Steels etc.

Isn't the Evostik one below the National League North?

That's quite a rise for AFC. Well done all involved.

It’s level 7 & 8 of the football pyramid I think

They have division 1 east & west. Promotion from this into the Premier Division which currently consists of Shaw Lane, the league up from that is National League North

There is an Evostick Premier in between the two leagues you mention. One North and one South. Hereford just won South Premier and promoted to National League North. Some big name clubs in there now. Stockport, Darlington, Chester, Hereford,Boston Utd, Kidderminster, York City

I see that former Alfreton Town manager, Russ O'Neill, has been appointed as joint manager of Guiseley with Marcus Bignott. Former Alfreton striker, Paul Clayton, has been appointed as assistant manager.

Speaking of Gainsborough...

They have never been relegated or promoted. They’ve moved leagues due to location etc but never due to finishing position

Looks like this scenario is getting closer. Does not look good for Nuneaton.

Harworth Colliery and Skegness Town have been promoted to NCEL Division 1 (Step 6). Clipstone and Rainworth join Teversal and surprisingly Heanor Town in the East Midlands Counties (Step 6). Heanor have taken a voluntary step down from Step 5 like Rainworth. Newark Flowserve have also been promoted to that division.

I'm a bit disappointed that Harrogate Railway have been given a reprieve in the NCEL Premier in the AGM Cup. I always think it is better to reward a team for success and promote another team. Retford United have been relegated so local non-league fans will be looking forward to a cracking Retford derby in the Central Midlands League.
