Nothing to play for

Postby Wil0211 » Sun Apr 15, 2018 5:34 pm

Our final 3 games are against teams with nothing to play for, and hopefully their respective players will already be on their summer holidays. Crewe fielded 8 youngsters yesterday against Luton, and many other teams will do the same over the next few weeks.
I am convinced 3 wins will comfortably get us in the play offs. Lincoln and Coventry will drop points(they have to play each other for starters )

Pity Crewe didn't go into holiday mode last week.

"David Artell made one change from the side that won a seven-goal thriller at Mansfield Town last weekend. A fully fit again Perry Ng returned to the starting line-up at right-back ahead of Jamie Sterry." This is a direct quote from the Crewe Alex website so how did they blood 8 youngsters?

" Luton are just 2 points from promotion after dishing out a lesson to Crewe's academy lads. With the game poised at 2-1 in the 51st minute a headed clearance from a corner pound Pelley-Ruddock Mpanzu standing 30 yards from goal. The midfielder cooly took a touch before blasting a right foot scorcher past visiting keeper Ben Garratt. Crewe included 8 players from their youth system and they never recovered after that"

Yes. And one that's nothing to play for. But no guarantees all the same.

This was the Crewe side.

Indeed, just one change from last week - Ng for Sterry at right back

There is little wonder the same posters appear on here week in week out, because anything you put gets scrutinised to death. What was intended as a positive post about our prospects of a play off place has got lost on a comment. Crewe had 8 youth players in their squad yesterday, would they have had that if they were going for promotion or fighting for survival?
It may read that it was 8 in the starting 11 as I read it in the paper this morning. It was an innocent comment made with the best intentions and not to mislead. Read the quote, how would you have interpreted it?

I don't think the comment above from someone about lies was called for Wil. But the fact is that Crewe had their strongest side out. A simple misunderstanding which shouldn't need any crossed words from either side.

Plenty of players playing for contracts and their futures.
