either

Mansfield’s away support of 4,xxx was the highest at an away game since 4,047 at the same ground in March 2007 (not including the FA Trophy final at Wembley in 2011 of course).

or

Mansfield’s away support of 4,xxx was the highest at an away game since 5,500 at Newcastle in January 2006 in the FA Cup (beating 4,047 at Meadow Lane in March 2007, and not including the FA Trophy at Wembley of course).

Could it be the highest ever away stags following for a normal league game?

well, only since they started being quoted as official figures.

We must have taken 5k in the Notts kop? Felt like it anyway.

not since away figures were first reported (around 2002)

I can't remember taking this amount to local away games in the time I have been going (late 70's)
Can anyone estimate how many we took to Notts County away when we were in the old division 2 in 1977/78 ?
I would guess at 1000-1500 ish, the terracing was certainly not packed.
I can't remember taking many in the league games of the late 80's either (500-1000 ? ish)
In 1997/8 we took just under 2000 so it looks like these big followings are a product of the new millennium.
Did we take many to Chesterfield in our glory days of the mid 70's (I can barely remember as I was too young at the time but remember a large following, 2000 ish?)
Can anyone remember these games and give a better guess?

Steve Hymas posted earlier on facebook that Notts County would have to get police approval to release more tickets for the away end.

So with no more ticket allocation this leaves Stags fans the only option of going in the home ends.
Seems crazy when they had 4 more days to sell more tickets.
with Jimmy Sirrel stand holding 5775 all our away supporters should all be together .

I'm one of the unlucky ones who won't know until end of week if I can make it.
I was hoping on pay on the day.

Clearly there will be 4000 in the home end then. You'll spot them because they'll have six fingers, their arms draped over their sibling and not have a massive sense of self entitlement.

It's one of those special games though isn't it.

You're unsure you can go but you really, really want to be there so you buy a ticket anyway. You're now in the position that should your late opportunity to go materializes you've got it covered.
If not you advertize said ticket on here and you blink and and it's snapped up.
Either way you're a winner.

50 tickets, missing a 0 perhaps? Or just 50 on police advice?

Either way anyone without one better getting dialing or running to the ground as they won't last long.
