You may've read about the struggles Chester FC are currently going through and I hope the mods et al don't mind me staring this copied and pasted story c/o APFSCIL
The story so far is the Club and fans are pulling together well and hopefully we will have raised the £50k soon to keep us out of immediate trouble but then we need to find similar amounts each month to keep us going for the rest of the season and beyond.
We are not totally clear on the full facts as to how this happened so dramtically and why it took our Board so long to make it public as warning signs were probably there in the autumn. It appears problems have stemmed from gambling an increased playing budget on costly two year contracts. Sadly those high earners have not delivered on the pitch, gates have dropped below budget and we have had a high turnover of loanees.
It's been a massive wake up call for club and fans alike. The Chester Exiles are working with a newly formed Fundraising Committee so will keep everyone informed if we arrange an event or something similar down here.
In the meantime, if anyone wishes to donate to the club's Save our Seals fund, here are the details:

They knew they wouldn't be able to sustain the outgoings if the gamble didn't pay off. It hasn't. I have no sympathy for the club, I do for the innocent fans.

So their reformed club, that has climbed the leagues and presumably is more fan run that the previous club, has gambled and spent beyond its means and is now in danger of going bust again?

We're especially lucky that half our ground isn't in Wales.

Spoke to one of their fans when we had a pre-season friendly there when we got promoted. They had smashed the conference North but non of the players wanted to play in the Conference itself as they were all part time and would be financially worse off and have to take time off for mid week games. I guess they are now trying to follow Salford and go full time at at the lower level with a push for higher things. Sh*t or bust, looks like bust.
