God, that photo looks awful of the Bish, couldnt they have taken one from that side with any of the other 2 stands in view? Not counting North stand because it was mainly empty

The Bishop st stand is an utter embarrassment to the club. It has been for years. I have been banging on about this since the 1970's! :D - and I always get shot down in flames. :)
But seriously, if the club aren't prepared to replace it at the moment, then at least for God's sake pull it down and rid of us that ugly embarrassing eye-sore!
It makes our stadium look an absolute joke. It screams a 'lower non-league club', and I suspect that it doesn't help encourage some players to want to sign for us.
Steve Hymas - Can't you get some of your building contractors to take it away? ......... on the cheap/between jobs? :)

The stand n deliver yellow circle explains why they used a picture of bishop street. Stating that promotion will hopefully get rid of the eyesore and mansfields equivalent the the yellow pages.

And see what instead? The sides of some terrace housing... no thanks. It doesn't look great but would look worse if it was removed and not replaced.

Yep you're right Jamie. Until it's ready for demolition and we've got something to replace it immediately then I see little point in pulling it down.

Both are bad though VP.

Depends on whether you'd prefer John Prescott or Chris Biggins, wearing mankinis and bending over to pick a penny off the floor! ;)

Three stands is better than four with one boarded up,

It literally ruins the general feel of the ground, would love to see it go.

And a wide open space would improve the'general feel' of the ground in your opinion.
How odd.

It’s not odd is it, The stand was a pile of raspberries even before it was condemned.

A open space would help the feel to the ground than a old small stand covered in advertising boards.

Nip to Oxford and you’ll see, I’ll admit it’s still not great but it’s better.

It's a bit like wearing a plain black suit, or a suit with a newspaper print pattern. One just looks a lot better than the other.
Or put another way - would you like a plain wall in your living room, or one decorated to look like the Bishop st stand?
And as has been pointed out: Oxford's stadium looks a lot classier for it.

How much revenue do you think the 'decorated' stand earns each seaaon though.

If they do the hotel you'd think BS would get some kind of make over. Otherwise its just a waste of money for minimal improvement.

The Bish generates 1,000s of £s in advertizing revenue. A black screen'd generate what every black screen generates ie £0.

I'd sooner t'club used it in it's delapidated state than look in to somones back bedroom window on Lord St.

Those advertising boards cost at least £1000 for the season, if not more. I know that some of the pitchside ones cost around £2000. There must be over 50 different advertisements over there - the money that generates each year isn't worth chucking away for the sake of having a black board because it looks a bit neater. The club are doing a good job getting money in to the club from a redundant stand and I don't mind if it stays the way it is until we build a proper stand.

I for one wish the Calver Cowboy had got away with leaving the heaters on in the Bishop Street. Advertising hoardings placed on a neat fence looks a lot nicer and would bring in the same revenue than on a dericilt stand. If I had a business I wouldn't want it advertised on that eyesore. No reason why it can't be pulled down.

Exactly. You don’t need a stand to chuck advertising boards on.

So we demolish the Bish at considerable cost to put up a fence at considerable cost to advertize what the Bish is already doing for nothing helping the clubs sustainability.

Then when the time comes to develop we demolish the fence put up at considerable cost to build a new stand at considerable cost just so a few folk on here aren't offended by having to look at it.
I'm glad JR's wise with his money and is thinking about what's going to get more folk into t'ground, ie a winning team looking for promotion (which comes at considerable cost) or on the other hand a nice shiny new fence

I know, JR knows, indeed everyone knows that the Bish isn't the greatest view. But me being a FOOTBALL FAN I tend to spend all my match time watching the game and not crying my eyes out over t'Bish.

The time for t'Bish to go is when Johnny feels the time is right to develop.

Bishop St Stand is an eyesore, the sooner it is replaced the better. I think with the clubs contacts (I bet Steve H knows a man with a digger and bulldozer) it would cost relatively little to demolish it and prepare the ground for a new stand for sometime in the future, in the meantime the advertising could remain but would be far less ugly.

Its ugly, ugly, ugly!

So get a quote and the fans can pay towards it happening.

Just need a quote on removal, reimburse sponsors, rebuild TV gantry etc etc.

A lot of outlay for no reward. Oh except maybe to stop people from taking the mick. Speaks volumes that the bish is all people can bash us on at the moment.

Better nothing than that eyesore. A small nuclear bomb to take out the houses behind and on Lord Street too.
