League table - what history suggests.

Postby Ben Superstag » Tue Jan 30, 2018 5:36 am

I have seen this on a few other forums but never on here, I suppose this is a different way of mocking up what is required from the remaining games. This table doesn't take in to account teams playing each other or anything of that nature.

This is quite similar to Kirkby Stags thread, viewtopic.php?f=8&t=32404 but is obviously inclusive of all sides.
The number in brackets is the variance in games from the Stags.

Interesting how many points have been achieved for promotion and playoffs in recent years. It would have been nice to see how many points relegated teams actually got as well and even how many points teams finishing 20th and 21st got.

Just as I expected 26 more points and we are safe!

We can do this.

I just checked and compared the table in 01/02 season to today's date and the current table.

In 01/02 we were 3rd. Had 51 points. Scored 43 and conceded 28.

I presume that the guaranteed safety at 76 points and guaranteed play off at 102 must be based upon what's possible for all teams to get this year, by winning all remaining games. If we got 101 points but didn't get into the play offs I'd be starting fires, and even bigger fires if we got 75 points and were relegated.

I think that would be impossible Mark  but as stated above, it doesn't take into account the fact teams play each other.

What makes you say that, Norm? :P

Personally I think this year's points stats will be far lower, based on the fact there are at least 7 or 8 teams vying for promotion and able to take points off the other. Simple maths and logic dictates that teams won't achieve those targets, given how the season has played out so far - Luton aside, no-one else is really romping away.

Very sweet to add the (+1) against Notts County's name with them still below us this evening.
