Teaser: New Years Day League Table Down the Years

Postby ST4GS » Mon Jan 08, 2018 11:15 am

We are currently on a brilliant run of form (1 defeat in 18 games) and have only lost 5 league games up until the turn of the new year.
I was recently told there was one season (excluding the non league years) in which we had actually lost fewer than 5 games (up to and including the new years day fixtures).
I was challenged to name that particular season, I had three guesses and failed!
Without looking it up can anyone remember which season this occurred?

Edit: Apologies. I should have stated since the glorious 74/75 season when we only lost 2 league games before the new year.

I'd go for the Foster promotion season early 90's, I think we went top with a win over Torquay over Christmas, and I think I remember our defensive record was the best in the league.

Edit: Sorry I've just looked up the season I was referring to and it was neither Foster, nor Christmas, and not the right answer either. So ignore me.
Controlled & Clueless. If this is the big life, well I ain't looking to live it.

My guess would be 73-74 or 74-75.
