Green Day Stags (ie: me) are going to the tribute band next week in the Kevin Bird suite. Billie Joe, Mike and Tre Cool would be so proud. You should all get tickets!

Would be great if the Stags came out to the Ace of Spades on match days.

Surely Viola Beach is more "the Mansfield Town way"

Little bit unseemly.

It's still the tune we come out to raspberry or not and long may it live. I don't want us coming out to some other naff tune picked by someone who thinks their choice is hip and cool. I personally think the Ace of Spades is a crap choice and nothing to do with football or us. Unless I'm wrong it's about playing card games.

The Ace of Spades has nothing to do with playing cards.

On the ball has always been raspberries it will continue to be raspberries if we play it from now till doomsday.

Once upon a time this flipping awful dross had never been played at Field Mill (sometime in the 60s I'm guessing) then some tone deaf dimwit thought it sounded hip & cool and we've been stuck with it on & off ever since.

It's only slightly less raspberry than that bloody God awful badge.

I'm with you, Spiro. Alongside our club colours and stadium, it is part of our identity and I am sure it will be retained. Yes I don't go home and stick it on the mp3 player, but that is the same for some if the utter dross that has been suggested to replace it. It was the ITV World Cup 66 theme and I think it was first played at the Mill in the very early 70s, poss late 60s. We've had countless threads about this and not once has anything come close to being as popular as our current theme. In fact I think I recall some of Sneags alternatives  I do agree about the badge and we should go back to the one we had when On the Ball was first played.

As Rob say it's unique to us and hopefuly in future years the younger generation (as I did in the mid 70's) will then associate it to the good times as we hopefuly climb the leagues.

Muzza banned it in his reign for one of his supposed 1% gains he thought some random 'pump it up' crap would give the team. Did it work, did it fire up the fans to a frenzy of fanatical support at the start of the game. Were the players 'pumped' by it to begin the game? Results and performances and eventual sacking said no, that 1% only served to begin his alienation to some fans with his 'I know best' arrogant managerial style.

There's no reason why before or after the team emerge from the tunnel that we can't have some other tunes played, but as the team emerge it should be the one and only OTB... it's tradition, it's us, it's MANSFIELD TOWN FOOTBALL CLUB.

Well we've traditionally been utter gash for most of our history so I guess OTB is in keeping with tradition. ;)

I started watching Stags in 1970 as a youngster and that tune is part of the very fabric of our club. Still love hearing it as the mighty Stags run out. :coys:
