Adam Murray - Boston

Postby Foresttownstag » Sat Oct 28, 2017 9:58 pm

Handed his resignation in at Boston. Lost 3-2 to Brackley today.

They've been awful of late, currently in the bottom 3 of the National League North.

Wouldn't surprise me if that's him done with management now, he'd struggle to get a managerial job at any half decent level now.

Thats a shame. Took it on too early i think.
You've got to go there and come back, to know where you've been.

You can't make a silk purse out of a pigs ear.
He has had little chance of success manager wise.
Did well with us on his budget.
An honest hard working player and manager who gives his all.
I hope he carries on trying.
Wish him well in his next step.

Good luck Adam, at least you show class which is more than our manager does now with ten times your budget.

Looked at their forum and lot of their fans glad he’s gone.

Quality played for us and always be a legend but not manager material.

Dead right. A legend for us and always will be. His problem is he is a defender and sets all his sides up to play defensive football rather than playing to score goals. He has ability to sign attacking players is good hence signing Danny Rose and CJ Hamilton but then sets a team up playing 4-5-1. Its not rocket science you are not going to score many goals with one attacker against four defenders so lose games and get the sack. Needs to change his outlook on the game to get success in the future if he gets another chance at management.

Many on here have said this before.

He's young, keen, has a good track record as a player, maybe he should bide his time and get coaching under a good exeperenced gaffer.

Muzza talks a lot about analysing himself and being one who thinks a lot about things. Yet somehow hasn't worked out that his defensive football ethos just doesn't work and win football matches consistently.

I like a lot of what he did with us. He improved a lot of things but until he can come up with a formula where his teams will create chances then he'll continue to fail.

Wish him all the best. Surely his next move will be as a coach somewhere, or something to do with youth football.

I think you would possibly make a better manager than Murray, Jamie.
You know your best team and subs, you know how you would set them up to play, you wouldn't keep chopping and changing.
After a few months, the fans would start to respect the fact that they could see what you were trying to achieve on the pitch.
You know the importance of having the players and fans onside.

Murray didn't appreciate any of this and I doubt he ever will.

I think that is sound advice. I think if he recruited an experienced older head whilst in charge of us, he would have succeeded. I heard from a reliable source he wanted Bill Dearden, who was prepared to help, but Bill couldn't commit full time. I wish Adam well for the future.

Good players don't turn into good managers. I'm afraid Murray fell off n that group. Hope that he eventually finds what he's looking for

Honest man??

Murray on the footballing side will always be a legend for MTFC, however he is arrogant and not a nice bloke in person.

Not sure how many more points we have now than under Murray at a comparable time in the season. Not many.

I've met him on numerous occasions and think the exact opposite.

The Boston fans at work feels that he took on a poisoned chalice from the previous manager and had to deal with a very poor squad. He brought in players that we would have thought would thrive at that level but the system didn't seem to bring out any quality. Seemed to be a nice bloke with high aspirations but no real ability to match the talk.

I agree. He certainly is no legend by any means but as a person he is the business.

No whiffy, you don't care. Someone started the thread and some have posted their thoughts so some are 'interested' shall we say.
