Furthermore, our tactics and substitutions are all wrong at the moment. So everything would have to massively to change for us to be top 3 this season. Possible, but not probable.

My prediction is that we will finish just outside the play-offs this season. However, we could with the right support, and lessons learned, gain promotion next season.

This is the voice of reason. As I have said for a while now ...... we need to be patient. Much more patient. :)

Problem is JR spent the cash and got Evans in for instant success. Not a project. We need results now.

But t'will be the same again. New players and then of course they'll need 5 months to 'gel'.

I'm assuming 81 points will achieve automatic promotion (top 3)

Current Table,

PLD........W........D.......L.......PTS
17...........6.........7........4........25

Required, for 81 points total,

PLD.......W.......D.......L.........PTS
29.........18.......2........9.........56
29.........17.......5........7.........56 :D
29.........16.......8........5.........56
29.........15......11.......3.........56
29.........14......14.......1.........56

We've currently got 1.47 points per game, where as we need 1.76 PPG over 46 games, therefore we now need 1.93 PPG for the remaining 29 games

Brilliant atmosphere behind the net yesterday and what a strike by Macca :D

Only 6 more games and we're halfway through the season. To be on track to finish the season with 81 points we would need to win 5 out of the next 6 games, which would mean we would have 40 points.

Big 4 home games v teams currently 13th, 24th :hysteria: 17th & 19th

And the 2 away teams are 22nd & 18th

28.........16.......5........7.........53 :D
28.........15.......8........5.........53
28.........14......11.......3.........53
28.........13......14.......1.........53

We've currently got 1.55 points per game, where as we need 1.76 PPG over 46 games, therefore we now need 1.89 PPG for the remaining 28 games

Good performance yesterday, especially 1st half.

Only 5 more games and we're halfway through the season. To be on track to finish the season with 81 points we would need to win 4 out of the next 5 games, which would mean we would have 40 points.

Well, after 40 minutes yesterday I wouldn't have predicted a 4-0 win :D

Only 4 more games and we're halfway through the season. To be on track to finish the season with 81 points we would need to win 3 out of the next 5 games, which would mean we would have 40 points.

All your figures assume the teams above us fall away Kirkby. Top 2 averaging 2 points per game and Accy 1.95. At the end of the day we need to get more points than 21 other teams to be in top 3 whatever that total may be. It's like the mythical 50 points to stay up, it could be more or less. Lies, damned lies and statistics.
All we can do is keep winning. The rest is out of our hands.

26.........14.......7........5.........49 :D
26.........13......10.......3.........49
26.........12......13.......1.........49

Good 1st half yesterday, 2nd half we stood off them too much!

Only 3 more games and we're halfway through the season. To be on track to finish the season with 81 points we would need to win 3 out of 3, which would mean we would have 41 points.

Stick with original post, too far behind I think and although we are becoming better the second half Sat shows that there is still a lot of work to do to keep the momentum going but play offs should be possible and are the best bet for us.

Next 3 league games are critical.

The last thing we need is a plumb third round draw to take our eyes off the ball.

With a bit of shrewd investment into the goal scoring area and we'll do it. For me, only Luton seem as good as up. I think county will slide away as will accy due to squad depth. Exeter already seem like they are falling away.

2nd and 3rd spots are there for the taking.
You've got to go there and come back, to know where you've been.

25.........12......13.......0.........49

Only 2 more games and we're halfway through the season. If we win both our home games we'll have 38 points at halfway (23 games) and we'd need 43 points from our next 23 games.

Possible but play offs much more likely but we need a really good run and after Crawley not sure we are quite there yet

Is it possible?
Yes of course it is till it's mathematically gone...
Is it likely ?
I'd say playoffs are a better bet...
I don't see looting or clownty slipping up , that leaves one spot and I don't see enough consistency in our play to say we could get there.
Happy if I'm proved wrong tho

Current Table,

PLD........W........D.......L.......PTS
22...........8.........9........5........33

Required, for 81 points total,

PLD.......W.......D.......L.........PTS

24.........15.......3........6.........48 :D
24.........14.......6........4.........48 :D
24.........13.......9........2.........48
24.........12......12.......0.........48

We've currently got 1.50 points per game, where as we need 1.76 PPG over 46 games, therefore we now need 2.00 PPG for the remaining 24 games

Even IF we beat Morecambe next week we'd only have 36 points at the halfway stage, so we really need a 4/5 winning run to get on track for a top 3 finish.

Disappointing today not to beat a team so near the bottom.

Against the current bottom 6 this season we've,
won 1
drawn 4
play Morecambe next week

Steve Evans PPG
Last season 1.56
This season 1.50

Mid-term report, disappointing, must do significantly better! (must EARN their wages = results)

Disappointing is being kind Kirkby, love your stats gives a good idea where we are at. Said before we can't raise our game for the poorer teams in this league. Your stat one win in 5 against bottom 6. Simply not good enough, dress it up all you want, their manager said we were unlucky etc. We need to improve sharpish it's now or never this season or it's gone and the only hope is the playoff lottery. Which to be honest I would take hands down right now

19 points from 16 games = 1.1875 ppg

Transpired over a 46 game season = 54 or 55 points. With that sort of total we'd have been making squeaky farty noises from our bumholes all season till we'd have gotten over the 50 point mark and virtual safety.
