If anyone out there in snipe land is interested re investments out of town etc, why not table a question for the Mayor or better still the Portfolio for Resource at the next Full Council meeting in November.

Question has to bd submitted in advance, by midday on the Friday ten days before the meeting, you then adk it and can folliw it with another unknown question which is related to the answer you received from the original question. Sounds confusing but it isn't .

Someone mentioned the Tory councillor earlier, his comnents are factually incorrect and he knows it, wannabe Mayor?

And she will do what? Compromise her position and that of the council. I don't think so.
The council is doing a fine job at the moment of keeping their business buried behind a pile of gobbledygook and a mountain of figures, that only an accountant could decipher!

Hotel has been shelved by the council, seems like they prefer the eyesore which is the former bus station.

In other news, that artist impression of how the stadium would look with an adjoining hotel is very impressive indeed.

Do we know what the other option was? Has anyone seen planning permission for another hotel.
I cannot find anything.
Also if this was done by vote , what was the outcome and can JR appeal

:?: what i don't get ,he met the council in January about the hotel we were having at the ground .
So why have the council suddenly decided to have one on the bus station site knowing what J R plans where.

There's something smelly in the Indy Forum.

I'm no massive fan of MDC as some of their decisions do seem a tad strange... however, there is nothing wrong with investing in commercial ventures around the country if they think they can make a profit.

They have properties in Scotland and all the profit goes back into MDC coffers plus they potentially have properties with equity in their portfolio. All forward thinking councils do this.

Also, the new MP is doing far more for the town than Meale ever did... check out his Twitter feed, it's very interesting and MTFC related.

Also, don't forget how much MDC lost when Icelandic banks when down.. with little or no compensation. This can takes its toll.

Well I'd say it's fair enough to invest in a hotel in another town as long as your own town has one. It is a bizarre argument to think that investing in another town is better than investing in your own. It probably explains why Mansfield, as much as I love the place where I was born and bred, is a craphole.

Because if it's all done at Field Mill then it will be the Stags who get the profits etc. If it's done on council land then whoever gives the biggest back-handers will get the deal.

John should continue with his Field Mill plans. Make his hotel bigger and better than the council's preferred developer. The shisters have done him up like a kipper and should be thoroughly ashamed of themselves. These comedians struggle to attract anyone, yet a local guy tries to put funding in to the town and this useless bunch pump him up the wrong un.

Probably tells us precisely why the place is in such a state.

Whatever is said you are all against it because it suites you to be negative about Mansfield.

Same goes with the manager, if you can find a negative you play on it whatever anyone, who may know, tells you.

Goodbye for now.

In the interests of transparency, I thought I'd ask MDC who their "preferred bidder" was:

Still being finalised? About as transparent as mud then...

Sports Direct, Poundland, The Dukeries Nail Bar or Sids Greasy Spoon would be my guess. Lets hope is better than a Hilton, although I very much doubt it.

Is it a sign of Mansfield’s town centre decline that even Cash Converters have closed their Leeming Street premises (opposite the long-time closed Dickie Dirts whose doorway has become the home for one otherwise homeless consumer of strong lager)?

Not wishing to defend MDC here, but surely they can't divulge details of any bidder until the procurement process is finished as this would be against government regs.
