Well said Sneag, good thinking, look forward to seeing what happens myself.

We are only discussing this issue because of JR's involvement etc, I think it would help us all if he was more open with the fans re his rejected bid and why.

Also, the new MP jumped on the band wagon without knowing the facts.

Time will tell?

I wouldn't get too excited OWS the smart money is on it still being a (very expensive) car park for a few years yet. ;)

This is a very accurate statement. Property prices are down 10% in london at the moment. The countries economic cycles eminate from london.

We're on to a big property downturn nationwide and i would consider that the land values in Mansfield will take a very long time to recover enough for either site proposal to become viable enough for a sale or a delivery partner to be interested.

Some retraction in property values has benefit to people like my 30-odd year old kids who are struggling to get on the housing ladder despite being in full-time work. Social housing availability is pretty-much non-existent so private landlords (some) are charging way over the odds because they can.

I reckon we could convert the Bishop Street Stand into two flats. The tenants could hang out their washing on the scoreboard ;)

It isnt. If prices fall too far people dont sell, FTBs struggle to get mortgages and the volume housebuilders slow progress on site delivery.

Your kids need to look into Rent to Buy. Its the future of home ownership.
You've got to go there and come back, to know where you've been.

Thought I'd have a look for the Harbour group on Google, and have come up with these:

1. Harbour Hotel Group from Christchurch in Dorset, who's tag-line is "Luxury Coastal Hotels"...

2. The Harbour Group from St Louis, who, according to Bloomberg are a private equity firm specializing in buyouts, turnarounds, and acquisitions of mature, later stage, and middle market companies...

3. The Harbour Group Tenerife, who are an alcoholics anonymous group in Santa Cruz...

Genuinely fascinated to know which one wants to build a hotel in Mansfield...

Yeah, I'd seen that, the Arba group are the developers who are looking for a partner to actually run the hotel. I assumed you knew the hotel operator, not just got the spelling wrong, sorry

I do have to say though, this quote from the linked report doesn't exactly fill me with hope...

"Arba Group, based in Broadway, Mansfield, is now in negotiations with the council and national hotel, food and drinks operators to bring the plans to fruition over the next two years"

To me, that says that Arba Group are speculating, and don't have a firm offer from anyone, unlike JR with The Hilton group.

Good luck to them, the town needs something.

If I were JR, I'd get the ball rolling and build at the stadium, with the track record of the council, he could have it built and opened before the council have even broken ground...

On a side note, can JR actually start building on the land at field mill as he's still paying off Haslam? In which case we wouldn't see any development until after the last payment inMarch 2019 I think.

I think he just wants half of any profit for the next twenty years.
We might win against Accrington next time.

Instead of griping, you could try posting something more “interesting” then.

It's so easy to simply think: 'boring non-football hotel thread' and just avoid it, instead of making the effort to moan.

Except, our owner wants to build a hotel to help fund our football club, so about as relevant as it could be.

To be fair, it takes a while planning out where to shift the heaps of aggregate from one end of the site to the other each week ;)

Let's hope MDC give us something we can be proud of, though I'm gutted Johnny Radford isn't part of it

How can it take a year, when you don't even have a developer signed up. What Mayor Allsop should do in that year, is resign, and let somebody with a modicum of ambition for the town, take over and produce real results, not soundbites every two weeks!
