Only saw Rod Arnold play a couple of times so for me, 'There's only one Kevin Hitchcock' though closely followed by 'Darren, Darren Ward'.

Recently it has to be The Beast, last season. Purely for the entertainment value he gave us when he acknowledged the crowd as 'BEAST' was shouted at him.

Rod Arnold, by several thousand miles, the best keeper we have had since the mid-70's. Those who didn't see him will just have to trust those who did - he was magnificent in every department of his game.

A few notables, Mazza, Ward and Hitchy were very good for us, so was the oft criticised Ian Bowling (twice player of the year).

rod arnold IS the best we have had, but another very good one, often unfairly overlooked and derided because of the way he took over from dave hollins, was graham brown.

I don't we will ever see the likes of Arnold again Yorke . I don't mean we won't have a quality keeper but we will never have one that good for so long . No loyalty nowadays.

Arnold was awesome. At his peak in the glory years of the mid 70s.
Without him as part of the machine we were back then it may well have been a slightly different outcome. Keepers then were not as protected as they are now so in some ways it was tougher. On the other hand rule changes such as no picking up back passes means todays custodians have to be technically better with their feet.

But Rod gets my nod as 'we were bloody good' back then.

Mazza's my No2 as without him that glorious night in Hereford we could well still be non league.

The first goalie I saw was the flying pig, good but probably not the best ever. I would probably give Dave Hollins the edge over Arnold , he had a great presence, fantastic distribution, and was a brilliant shot stopper
I only watch Corrie to see Eva's fantastic rack

Rod Arnold. Without question.

I didn't see Ward or Hollins play, so in my opinion Hitchcock & Marriott would be the next best ..... and maybe Graham Brown would be in that same group. Steve Sutton (on loan from Forest) was excellent (and not surprisingly he was also a top keeper in the top flight).

But overall winner .... "Rodney, Rodney Arnold" (even though he was actually called 'Roderick'!)

Will never forget those days in a packed north stand. The opposition had a corner, muddy pitch, rain or snow , big forwards , Rod would come out in a crowd of giants and rise above like a cat and pluck that ball from the air clutching it to his chest then quickly dispatch to the wing and jimmy took it in his stride and off he went. The best ever and will never be the like again.

Arnold was a fabulous goalkeeper. But he lacked height. Hollins had everything.
