Tbf if expecting at least 3 passes is 'glory' then we are glory hunters. Oh well.

Oh do pack it in. We are a League 2 club. I really think people need to manage their expectations down. They’ve got a false sense. It’s very arrogant to assume that we will just bomb up and walk the league. That was annoying to us when the Spireites did it.

I’d suggest calming down, dear.

Evans comments after the game were worrying. If he wants to go then he should go, his attitude seems to be that he's doing us a favour by managing us.

Poor choice of words SE and i think or hope he will look back later and would agree; give the team the chance up until Xmas and see where we are, however Luton 2-0 down with 5 minutes to go.......the rest is history, some may agree and argue that is top 3 material.

Poor interview from Evans - fans who have travelled that far have every right to express concerns

It's for certain that the team need to find a backbone pretty soon.
The mark of a good side is to come back and get something from a game when the chips are down or die trying. I think the fans that travelled would be more tolerant if we'd put the U's on the back foot and had them hanging on for grim death and their keeper'd been MOTM but it wasn't the case it seems.

If he has said these things i.e Glory Hunters then he's already planning his exit stage left. That's a bloke that doesn't care.
Reading the Colchester fans on Twitter and his 'dominating them' comments , they asked for a drop of whatever he'd been drinking.
Disrespecting people who have spent a lot of hard earned to go a long way, is a clear sign he's looking to jump ship unless his arris is kissed again.
Be clear Mr Evans on what you want to do, not keep making veiled threats to folk who have backed you to the hilt.

I'm not impressed so far with Evans as a coach.

Recruitment hasn't been bad, apart from questionable striker aquisitions, but there's certainly some names we have signed that I doubt would be here if it wasn't for Evans' powers of persuasion.

But I believe a better coach at the moment could get so much more out of this assembled squad.

Do you think the prospect of managing at a club with four stands and a working scoreboard has turned Evans' head?

Rob's right in that Evans isn't a coach, he's a manager.

He relies on his powers of motivation and a big budget and more often that not if you pay good money for good players they will gel and work it out for themselves. At the moment away from home it's not working. Home results have been pretty good.

Did not go today, at start of season did not expect to win every game. Why all the vitriol when we lose. ?

The lack of effort, passion and a desire to succeed.

Put in effort and lose i'll take it on the chin. Take the Luton game as an example despite the final result (felt like a loss at the time) the players couldn't be faulted we expected to push on from it but haven't.

The players set that standard, no one else.

Only key difference is Byrom and Butcher. Been very disappointed with Butcher so far and never thought id say we need Byrom back urgently.

Should also add Benning was in the team that day and Mellis started the game.

There's many proper coaches who are managing above and beyond their budgets by moulding teams together, and I dare say there's probably a good few doing so at levels above our own taking home less of a salary than Evans too.

We have the most expensively assembled squad in our history who struggled to defend set pieces in PRE-SEASON, yet the coaching on that weakness is clearly not happening because we are still the same.

As Musings said above....manager, not a coach.

Agree Butcher has been disappointing. Would love to have seen him in that game against Reading when he was the best player on the pitch.

He's spent a lot of money and it's not working - this is his get out chance. Go to Gillingham, with the notion that the fans forced him out/going to a bigger club!!!

There were a dozen fans singing what a load of rubbish. Some stayed and clapped the half dozen who came across - they were the ones who have been a success - Mirf, Pearce, Rose. The rest left without doing either

After 20 plus years in management, is SE really that thin skinned?

I can't agree with you about a lack of effort from the players. I don't think there was a lack of effort at all. Lack of quality on some occasions, certainly some mistakes, some missed chances, perhaps too many long balls on occasions. But not lack of effort in my opinion.
