Everything currently happening at Gillingham is exactly what Evans avoids when considering job offers.

didn’t want to go in somewhere that was fire-fighting in the leagues above and fighting against supporters and trusts and different people - I wanted to join a football club like I joined previously where everyone was pulling together and it’s fair to say that the chairman sold himself and the football club in a very admirable fashion and it didn’t take me long to want to be here.”

This is the only reason stopping me from lumping on him going Gillingham.
Sky Bet have set a limit of £90 maximum bet on him being next Gillingham boss.
These are my opinions , if you don't like them I have others...

Hes assembled a good squad.. a good manager to go with it wouldnt be a disaster would it

Nigel Adkins still not got a job.

have a look at Blidworth Stag's post on the Would you really be Bothered thread, if you want to know what would happen should Evans leave.

Blidworth is right, I think we’d promote from within again and it probably would be John Dempster as manager. We are very lucky to have a manager with as good a record as evans does. We’ll probably never have anyone as good while we’re in league 2.

No, but some are saying they wouldn’t be bothered if he left.

They can kiss promotion ambitions goodbye if evans left and I think they’d be bothered if we spent the next 5 years in league 2

it was completely clear to me (and maybe I had the advantage of standing next to him) that he was referring ONLY to those very few supporters who shouted "what a load of rubbish" in the faces of the players. He was absolutely not talking about the majority of the 300 travelling fans.

I have no appetite for Evans to go, but let's stop the hero worship, eh?

His record deserves some credit. We always knew that his methods were questionable - but would that matter if he got us promoted?
I think he should be given a fair chance - and that means at least the whole of this season.
We didn't sack Ian Greaves after 12 months - and rightly so.

That's how I see it too.

Hero worship? All i said was he’s the most successful manager we’ve had (in the past). Nowt wrong with not sticking the knife in after a loss.

There's been no talk of sacking Evans, has there? This thread came about because of Gillingham's approach.

I'm sure he has said himself he came well under the budget John had given him, the strength in this argument is that whilst we signed Butcher on deadline day didn't we also have a record breaking transfer rejected in the last few hours?

Maybe will be revisited in January.

That means he’s probably going to break SAF’s record for staying with one club.

MTFC said they had refused Gillingham permission to speak to S E the fist time they approached the club.

They came back a second time and MTFC have said nothing to that :?: :?:

Just called skybet to place a fictitious £2k on Steve Evans. They told me that max I can have is £162

Defo something going on. They obviously have a massive liability running on Big Evo

1. It was never confirmed that Gillingham made a second enquiry for Mansfield, only that they were expected to.

2. The SkyBet manager markets are not very sophisticated. They once limited me to £24 on Thomas Tuchel to become Roma manager. He never has.

There's usually a limit on all managerial appointments because a manager could tell his family & friends to go and lump on when he knows he's going somewhere, so you can never lump a load of money on a manager getting a new job. All the odds mean is that someone has put a bet on it. I could put £1 on him and the odds would change, that's how it works.
