A very good article on Colin Larkin from the Dundalk Democrat

Part 2 on Mansfield Town and Carlton Palmer is coming up tonight.

The second part of Colin Larkin's interview with the Dundalk Democrat talking about Mansfield Town and Coco The Clown. I think it's fair to say he was not a big fan of Hasloan's drinking buddy from Sheffield.

A good player for us, but could have been remembered as a legend if his legitimate goal against Huddersfield Town in the 2004 play off final had not been cruelly ruled out.

Correct, and look where they are now. Can anyone remember who the referee was that day?

Painful as it was, has anyone got any footage of the disallowed 'goal'.

I brought myself to watch it just the once on Calendar news and controversially I thought the ball had gone out?

Thanks stags 2002. Regarding the goal that wasn't given. I seem to remember the incident wasn't shown on the giant screen. At the time I thought the fact that they didn't show it, meant it was a goal.

The fact that not one Huddersfield Town player appealed that the ball was out said it all to me. Did you notice that David Mirfin was playing for Huddersfield too?

If we had gone up with Hallam around we would be like Blackpool. Directors bleeding the club dry. Hold on, we were.

Had we gone up, Haslam may have sold us, for a good profit.

We have a much better view than the linesman and there's no way that we can be sure that all the ball was over the line. He couldn't possibly have been anywhere near certain. Perhaps he's indicating offside? Hadn't seen the footage since the day. Huddersfield fans that I spoke to thought the ball stayed in.

I think there was about 5 'record transfers' during the Haslam era, where it was all actually fabricated bullshite.

for the official club records, Paul and I consider that to be Lee Peacock, with the associated caveats: http://stagsnet.net/vintage/records/records01.html

We are in the process of trying to extract the info about Lee Angol for club records ...

I find the whole transfer fee thing to be a bit bewildering. Was there ever a rule that they had to be announced? If so what's changed?
Is it the proliferation of agents into the game or just a general business 'savvyness' that means most transfers at our level now seem to be 'undisclosed'
And why does that not affect the top tiers of the game where record fees seem to be announced and broken monthly?
i would prefer not to.

Like to think so, but really doubt it Andy - not unless one of the buyers was 'Jack' from fairy-tale pantos! :P

As i recall, every time someone came sniffing around the accountancy ledger burned hotter than the book piles found in Berlin during the late 1930's. If we'd have gone up Haslam would have suckled from the money-teat one last time and taken all the extra revenue he could, then write it down as an even larger debt the club owed.
