Not sure if this has been mentioned anywhere else or its just me but..

During the Luton game, my mate notice that David Mirfin doesn't like to challenge for headers, or like to jump for headers.. and I dismissed it and laughed at him but during the Grimsby game, thats all I could notice. He quite often let the ball bounce before clearing it or if the striker going for the ball in the air, he tried to put them off rather then going for the ball himself..

Has anyone notice it? it weird having a CB who hasnt got confidence for a simple header

Listening to the commentary tonight, I don't think Martin Shaw agrees with you. He's made a point at least five times in the opening half hour that Mirfin had headed the ball well.

After tonight's performance, would the negative contributors to this topic like custard or ice cream with their humble pie?

Oh, and while I'm on a roll...

Any of the complainers about Logan want some, if there's leftovers?

Immense again tonight..just as against Grimsby.

Really don't think people watch our matches if they don't think he wins any headers

he was definitely one of the better players tonight, weather conditions was certainly a factor in our poor performance. Lumping it up the field in a swirling wind ,not sure that works at any level. At least we didnt get beaten

He gets something on it everytime it goes near him. Not always pretty but he was very good again tonight.

Fairs, fair. He won a lot of headers in the first half. Second half he struggled at times when they had the ball on the floor more often.

No, they said he loses more headers than you would expect, which was a fair comment based on the first few games he played. Last night he won pretty much every header.

No, it was stated that it appeared that he didn't like heading the ball

I think what was actually stated was he doesn't like jumping or challenging for headers, not actually heading the ball ;)

Now Mirfin is playing well we aren't conceding. He is the player Scunny fans told us he was. Great win and performance again.

Immense today. Goes about his work quietly and honestly - I've completely changed my mind about him over the last few games.

Do you think this will stop the rhead scores again. Why did we let Green go? Comments. Showed today how much better the players are now. Not a classic performance but enough at this point in the season to keep us interested. Onwards and upwards

Mirfin and KP are the first names on the team sheet for me, crewe mirfin was awful ever since I think he's been a brick wall. Badly average today and still got three points.. sign of champions

I can sort of see what the original poster means to an extent....
He's like Rheady, he doesn't jump for a lot of his headers, he just uses his body position to make it near on impossible for the opposition player to get over or around him to challenge for it.

Won so many headers today with the vast majority of them coming from instances where neither foot left the ground.

Immense performance.

As I've mentioned on here before, I know the performance analyst at Scunny and he told me that his running style is quite deceptive....he was actually Scunny's 3rd quickest player last season in pre-season testing.

Hayden White was back to his best today. He had a ropey spell a few games ago but today he was like the player we had last season.

Yes, players coming in or off the bench paying well, it's all about the shirt.

Mirfin and Pearce are an absolutely outstanding pairing at this level.

For me, our best two players, by some distance, at present.
