Don't think it's that far fetched, he's played 2 up top in every game so far including pre season. Angol has 2 in 2 and Hemmings just come in, both will play in my opinion. The only outfield change from Luton is Butcher for Atkinson

If fit I would play Diamond instead of Pearce.

Other teams should worry about us, not the other way around, that's why we are among the favourites. COYS attack.

It's all about opinions, but you surprise me Geoff. Pearce is a must for me. Not too bothered who the other centre half is.

He won't play this at all but with Butcher on board I would play

----------------------------Olejnik----------------------------------

------Bennett-----------Mirfin-----------Pearce---------------

McDonald------Butcher------Byrom-------Benning------

----------------------------Mellis----------------------------------

-------------------Angol------------Hemmings-----------------

SE won't and he knows more than I but that looks a pretty decent side for me.

I like the look of that. But not convinced McDonald could play wing back but White would be a good fit.
The Stags are for life, not just for cup finals. (or Liverpool).

Herein lies the problem of conceding from set plays.
All of the midfield are small and not great headers of the ball.
If you play the slightly built midfielders we have now, you need a GK that comes for everything to take the pressure off, we have one with lead boots.
Just my theory?

Which is amazing we have signed a replacement already for him after 5 games.

I don't think so. I think he will replace Digby.

Logan
Bennett Diamond Mirfin Benning
Macdonald Mellis Butcher Anderson
Angol Hemmings

Deploy a diamond shape with butcher spearheading the midfield, mellis to be given free role.

Personally i dont like the diamond we keep playing. It allows teams to much space out wide, especially later in games. It's as if we're inviting them to cross or have it wide.

Whilst we deal with lots of stuff well at the back, the more opportunities we give a team the more chance they'll score.

Evans ethos is to pressure high and stop teams getting at us, but when we leave so much space out wide we're asking too much of the wide diamond positions and full backs.

The diamond helps compact and shut out a midfield, but in L2 teams dont play through the middle.

I'm hoping that now we have a solid defensive midfielder we can play a proper 442 with at least one of our wide men staying wide and stretching teams.
