So who is the new third potential Stags target?

Postby Chadman » Thu Aug 31, 2017 1:09 pm

A third player suddenly in Evans' sights today - young right-sided midfielder whom Evans believes he would be lucky to lure to League Two.

Not sure why he is looking at a right winger when we don't play with wingers. Anderson not enough?

Hasn't Anderson been playing on the left?

I thought it was Atkinson to the left of Byrom and Anderson to the right. But the certainly aren't playing as wingers.

Scatter gun approach to recruitment now. Evans is playing Fantasy Football.

If he can move a few on then it release funds for a new face or two.
If he can move CJ on for instance that opens a spot up out wide.
Anderson and Macdonald left side
Potter on the right.
A melliss digby and Byrom in middle.
Atkinson can play across the middle.
These are my opinions , if you don't like them I have others...

Can only play 11 players at anyone time in a match probably found the Murray book of tactics decided to play 10 midfielders instead of 10 defenders

Hungry young loanees would be best to replace those leaving. We already have experience in every position. We now need young talented players that wont be too gutted if they aren't automatic starters, but will be up for it when they get a chance.

The problem with that is the parent club might not let them come unless they are going to get regular first team action .

I may be way way off here but what is the score with free agents? When SE says kid I don't always take that to mean very young just young compared to him.

Putting 2 and 2 together and getting 304 more likely than not but Lewis Mcgugan would seem to fit the bill even though he is 28, don't know if it was mentioned elsewhere.

McGugan was on £20,000 a week at Hillsborough apparently.

I think the tactics are pretty much pack the centre of midfield to win that battle and use wingbacks as the wide options. The downside of this is that teams use a basketball style defence against us packing the key areas in return which makes it difficult to get space. The main downside I see at the moment is that we need to get better at set pieces, both offensively and defensively to really ramp up the pressure.
Recruitment wise I think Evans has done well, the first team looks strong with his favoured tactics and has a few game changers on the bench, what we need to learn to do is to make teams pay when we are on top and then close out the last 10 minutes of games rather than burn out.

i think clubs can still buy released players out of the transfer window?
i also heard it was McGugan we tried to sign.
Now that really would have set Stagsnet on fire lol
still a chance then as he is a Notts lad and maybe looking for local football for a season.

no. Otherwise that would be an easy way around the transfer window. A player who has been without a club all summer could join a club, but not someone released during the season.

Has that changed then? Because last year I think it was Robbie wear who left orient and it stated he couldn't get a league club because he had left after the window had shut and if he had left on or before deadline day he could of moved to a league club as a free transfer. He hen had to play in the conference until January.

no it's not changed. You may be thinking of Dean Cox, who left Orient in Sept last year and therefore could not join another league club until Jan. He had to play below Conf South level (at step 3 as I recall) until he could play for Crawley in Jan. I explained the situation at the time on here. Had Dean Cox not had a club all summer he could have played for Crawley in Sept. But as he was at Orient in Aug, he couldn't.

Clubs can't buy released players outside of the window, but I'm sure they can still sign unemployed players .... which includes anyone whose registration was cancelled before the end of the window

With 15 signings, don't you think we've got enough?
Mr Evans is on borrowed time
