Taft

Postby SINA STAG » Sun Aug 27, 2017 11:33 am

Is it time for the return of the taft?

Alright Stevie saying we need a striker and attacking midfielder but we need a defender who can defend also come up for corners n free kicks chip in with a hand full of goals each season....

And before someone quotes a defender scored the opener today we don't seem to have a threat in the air in either box.

In fairness defence is already chipping in Bennett yesterday and Mirfin already has one to his name.

We have the players to play a 5-3-2

Maybe go that way over the course of the season

Humpty had enough talent in yesterday's squad to respond to Luton going three up front early in the second half. He responded too late and, by the time he did, our lads were getting tired whilst their first goal gave the Luton players the belief they didn't seem to have in the first half.

So, I aim most of my critical comment at him - not the players. (Although the keeper does nothing to inspire confidence)

how can we not be a threat in the box when half the goals we've scored have come from set peices?

the gk and defense just need more trust and time - defending anyway

Taft has a lot of experience in division 2 when he played for Burton playing a big part in getting them to league 1.He would be a big asset to this side, Steve just needs to give him a chance.

Sounds like Uwe Rosler is watching the situation, Fleetwood would be a good move for the lad now he's fit

Mal Benning has cost us at least 2 goals this season.......is it time to bring Taft in at left back ?

Johnny Hunt was impressive in pre-season. I'm sure he will get a game on Tuesday, and if he has a decent game, it would not be a surprise if he plays at Carlisle.

was this the game at Stocksbridge, which I didn't see and couldn't get the video, and for which we are still awaiting for the report from Tippy Tappy

I saw all the other games and I only remember Hunt giving the ball away once in his own half (against Sheff Wed).

I don't remember the times but there have been several times he has given the ball away in bad areas and I have been to several psfs but he has done well at times. :coys:

Agree re Mal but it is often forgotten the amount of work he has to do attacking.

OK, when he has cover from midfield but for Luton's first he was left exposed beyond Luton's wildest dreams with Anderson up field chasing a lost cause.

As the captain, in the last 10 minutes Anderson should have got the team to shut the game out. He didn't.
