It's time for the 'nobody's bothered about it Cup' again.

Run out for the reserves again methinks.

I felt you needed a little rest for this one bud, something's still not clicking. I wonder whether Lincoln will put out a 'fringish' side like we will probably do. It's gonna be tough if the don't.

Would prefer to see fringe players for this one, with the exception of one or two in need of game time (inc. Olejnik who I would keep in for sat).

Feels like a case of who's got the best reserve team. Is it still 5 or 6 of the players to start the games before and after or get a fine like Luton did?

Olejnik
Bennett Mirfin Taft Hunt
McDonald Digby Byrom Potter
Rose OSJ

That would assume a couple of changes for Carlisle and I could see that happening.

Just treat it like a practice match.

3 players for me id like to see playing from the start are:

Olejnik - make SE take note and get the nod for Saturday
Macdonald - get match sharpe so can get him in the team
Hemmings - missed our pre-season, showed alot of promise Saturday and will take a few weeks to get upto full speed.

I know a lot of our regular fans will give this one a miss. I'm quite looking forward to it. Our squad is such, that whoever plays, we will have a decent side. And Lincoln will surely field some of our ex players. Perhaps a few will come to "cheer on " or otherwise Ollie Palmer.

I agree - good though Benning is, he is a little like Ashley Cole - great going forward, but he vacates his defensive duties at crucial times and leaves big gaps behind him. I think with some good instructions from the management/coaching team (and the captain during the match) this can be rectified. But we need to do it quickly. In the meantime - lets see if Hunt is a more solid left back.

What are the rules for this now? How many changes can we make from Saturday? Would ideally like to see us change the whole 11 so everyone is getting some game time

The rules now state . . .

For EFL Clubs:
A Club can play any goalkeeper in the competition;
· The revised requirement of Rule 7.3 – ‘4 qualifying outfield Players from 10’.

A qualifying outfield Player would be:
Any Player that meets the current criteria (excluding Goalkeepers), includes those who:
Have started the previous or following first team fixture;
Are in the top 10 players at the club for starting appearances in league and domestic cup competitions for season;
Have made 40 or more first team appearances in their career;
Are on loan from either a Premier League or Category 1 Academy Club.

Gives me a headache just thinking about it!!

From that I take it you only have to conform to one of those criteria to qualify? so we can essentially make as many changes as we like as I'm sure all of our squad has 40 first team appearances in their career

Steve Evans made 10 changes from the side that drew with Luton, and he would have made 11 if he was allowed to. The rules of which players you can select based on the previous game, the next game, played a certain number of games in their career, number of appearances during the season etc, are extremely complex this season. The player keeping his place was Krystian Pearce. Zander Diamond continued to miss out through injury but should be fit for Saturday. Jimmy Spencer started with Steve Evans saying that he needed game time, while Danny Rose did not start as he did not need game time as he is now “supremely fit” according to Evans pre-match. Jack Thomas started and needed to show what he could do. Alex MacDonald returned from injury for his first appearance since Malta. All players were looking to stake a claim to play at Carlisle.

If the Imps don't sell out the away end for the worthless vase I'll be very disappointed.

I mean, they've always been such a heavily followed football club throughout their history.

Obviously Evans thinks Hemings is either match fit or needs harder training sessions (which he can't do for two days if he had played tonight.) It will be interesting to see how Jack does playing with a quality holding midfielder behind him.

Lincoln had sold close on 800 tickets by this morning !!!

Far more than we would have sold for this competition if we were away from home!!!!

Mellis, Angol and Hemmings caused problems on Saturday. Makes sense to me to leave them out until Saturday. Could be a very good trio for us moving forwards
