and for those of you still thinking that releasing Matt Green was a mistake, watch how many attempts go off target to get one to go in.....

Great to see the Green / Rhead partnership back in action.

Review of the game today from their forum. Pretty accurate;

2-0 did flatter us bit, no lack of effort on our part, but after a good initial 15 minutes Mansfield got on top and were running us ragged by half time. The players had already put in a massive effort to this point. From the start of the second half the mental effort had simply drained all resources. We gave away a soft goal pretty soon after the restart, I think it was Fitzwater who failed to jump to meet the cross, it was a free header to take the lead. They kept up the pressure after going 2 up until the last 20 minutes after which they saw out the game with relative ease. Mansfield were actually a bit light upfront, all the possession should have resulted in a bigger margin of victory.

Mansfield have been tipped for promotion, and I would be surprised if they didn’t do that on this showing, perhaps they need another striker but they will be hard to stop. It may be that we have potentially got the hardest game of the season out of the way early. I do hope so because they were half a yard quicker, they had all the little tricks that won them most of the decisions, they were far more physical, at times we literally bounced off them.

On this showing we look well short of the mark, we didn’t compete effectively. We looked like a team from a lower division today.

The main plus point other than having got this one out of the way early is that Dan Wishart’s pace is quite an asset, he was good during his short spell. Generally we were too ponderous, and not making our passes.

I think Mark Cooper has been playing the waiting game to see how our current squad is coping, before he decides where to strengthen prior to the transfer window closing. We really do need to strengthen, playing Doidge upfront on his own will result in too few goals. Woolery would have been a massive asset, we need more pace upfront, Doidge needs better assistance. I don’t Think Reece Brown is the answer, he’s way too small, the ball bounces over his head too often and his is a bit lightweight.

Not impressed with Laird today, the defence needs some help from midfield but that will only result in playing deeper and deeper as today. They closed us down very quickly so Traore and Noble had little time to effect the game in the other direction, Cooper was getting caught in possession.

It was a very difficult day at the office. We have Yeovil next weekend at home so perhaps we will not receive such a comprehensive bullying.

Plenty to aspire to, but Mark must get a few more players over the line in the next two weeks or so. If we don’t then I think we will be amongst the strugglers. It’s hard this league 2 stuff!

Bumped into some really friendly locals and fans outside the ground and in the pub before the game, probably the highlight of the day.
There is one formidable adversary that Arsene Wenger has yet to defeat; it's Arsene Wenger's Coat.

Cheers for that. Good read and nice to hear an oppositions fan view.
Even he says we need a striker.
Don't we all lol
Finding and keeping one that good in this league is very hard.

Evans is quality... he literally says exactly what we're all thinking in his after match interviews. A proper manager.

It's great to see him find success. But with our pressing game, he was never gonna fit in at Stags.

Terrible camera angle seems so far from the action. That's how it comes across on tv compared to the other games. Use the zoom!!!

Greeny could have had a hat-trick but kept going to grab his goal. Jordan Drew-Maguire looks a useful signing for Lincoln as well. Interesting to see how the Lincoln centre half, Sean Raggett, was allowed to twice bring the ball forward unchallenged and nearly set up a goal on each occasion.

I thought the same, not only finding goal scoring opportunities but providing crosses as-well.
All strikers go through goal droughts, goals will rejuvenate him and rebuild his confidence.
