The youth team game was played constant rain at Rainworth making the conditions very difficult. The game was watched by George Foster who works as a scout for Derby County.
Mansfield were the better side in the first half and took the lead when the Chesterfield keeper missed a cross into the box which resulted in a defender blocking a shot with his arm. Keaton Ward converted the penalty for the Stags. Chesterfield were the better side in the 2nd half and equalized when Walker conceded a penalty. However, No 15 (Jake Dumbleton) had a great chance to win it for the young Stags when he was clean through on goal but the Chesterfield keeper made a good save. I thought local lad, Harry Bircumshaw (No 4), had a good game for the Stags and Walker (No 6) also played well apart from conceding the penalty.
