Rochdale team selection

Postby stagmanrob » Mon Aug 07, 2017 4:40 pm

Interesting one this....

If we were resting players ready for FGR at home on Saturday....

So we put Olejnik in, and change the whole back four to Bennett, Pearce, Taft and Hunt....

Then start CJ, Digby and Sterling-James...

And if they're fit enough to get into the side, we included Potter and McDonald....

Would you say that we'd be stronger than the team we put out on Saturday?

Based on names and reputation, no.....but on pre-season form and what we know so far....possibly yes.

It definitely makes you realise how strong of a squad we have though. Easily the strongest I've ever seen us have.

Evans said there won't be many changes because it's a tougher game...

I think he wants to win as many games as possible including these cup games

If it was manager I would play a similar team to what you suggest, basically those who didn't start on Saturday thus allowing them to stake a claim for a start on Saturday against FGR.

I would definitely give Sterling a start. He looks a good player to me.I would keep White at rt back.Bennet better in the middle.I would put Pearce in for Mirfin.Start with Digby for sure. The rest of the team is difficult to pick Olejnik instead of Logan.

I believe that we should play the GK & defence that we plan on playing against Forest Green, as they will benefit from more game time to gel.
Personally, I would pick Olejnik, Bennett (RB), Diamond, Pearce & Hunt (LB). If they look good - then go with that defence for the more important league game on Saturday.
As for the rest of the team ...... the same principal ..... the team that we want to play on Saturday, because I don't think that we actually achieved a settled team from those pre-season friendlies. The pre-season friendlies were not very successful in that regard.

I just hope SE picks what he considers to be his strongest team. Unlike the way we have treated them in previous seasons, we need to treat cup games as important.

Logan
Bennett diamond Pearce benning
Potter Byrom mellis Anderson
Rose Angol.

We need to keep the majority of the team together but also give people a chance who could argue that they deserve to start.

Yes Bennett and Pearce in and Sterling James at the very least and maybe give Potter run out.

I remember when Liam Hearn did himself a right naughty against Sheffield United.

Please none of that from the new boys tonight.
You've got to go there and come back, to know where you've been.
